Vipers Win Weekend AAU Tournament
The San Jose Vipers took home 1st place in the Dublin AAU Qualifier this weekend. The Vipers finished the tournament with a 3-1 record. Saturday morning the Vipers were defeated by the Belmont Bulldogs in a tight game, 3-2. In the afternoon game, the Vipers defeated the California Sting by a score of 13-2. Pitching on Saturday for the VIPERS were Alex Kalogrides, Nate Garcia, David Gonzales, and Josh Isais.
Sunday morning the Vipers defeated the SCC Stars by a score of 14-6. It was a back and forth battle until the Vipers broke it open in the 5th and 6th innings. Pitching a great game for the Vipers were Yasser Clor and David Gonzales, with Nate Garcia comming in to close out the game.
In the Championship game, the Vipers once again took on the Belmont Bulldogs. It was yet another low scoring game with the Vipers comming out on top, 3-1. The Vipers received outstanding pitching from Josh Isais and Nate Garcia. Josh went the distance in his first Championship start for the Vipers. He pitched 5 terrific innings, and kept the Bulldog hitters guessing. Nate came in to close out the game and did a fantastic job once again. They were backed by a solid Vipers defense that turned 2 double plays and tracked down key outfield fly balls to end Bulldog rallies.
