Willow Glen Little League 2012 Hit-a-thon Day

This upcoming weekend is a busy baseball weekend for Willow Glen Little League. The attached document contains all the information you should need, so please print it out, review it and bring it with you to the events.

On Saturday, April 21st is the 2012 Willow Glen Little League Hit-a-thon fund raiser. We will also be holding our annual t-ball classic where our future big leaguers get to play on the Major Field. Finally, it is also Picture Day. We will start with a continental breakfast at 7:30 am, followed by the t-ball classic and then the hit-a-thon. Please read all the attached material as it tells you where to be when. It is a busy schedule, so please be on time for each of your players activities.

Team Pictures

Team pictures will be the first thing on your schedule Saturday, so please check the attached schedule and with your team parent on when you need to be in the picture area (see included map). Your team parent will provide you with a picture ordering form/envelope this week. Each player will review a FREE Memory Mate picture at on Closing Day, The Memory Mate is an 8 x 10 photo sheet containing a 5x7 team photo and a 3 x 5 individual picture. Please fill out you player’s information on the envelope, even if you do not want to order anything beyond the Memory Mate. If you want to order any other pictures, please complete that part of the form as well. All payments for pictures beyond the Memory Mate need to be made on Saturday. Payments can be made by cash, check or charge.

T-ball Classic

The T-ball classic is not just for the t-ball families. All are invited to cheer on our younger players as they are individually introduced and play a 1-inning matchup on the “big” field. T-ball parents, you will find a player information form in the attached packet. Please fill it out and bring it on Saturday so that we can properly introduce your player. Important information includes their favorite professional baseball player, baseball team and what your player wants to be when they grow up. Make sure you bring your video camera; this is a big deal for our t-ballers.

Hit-a-thon

The Hit-A-Thon is a critical source of funding for the improvements that the league has targeted for 2012. This year’s improvements included redoing both the minor and major field surfaces and pitching mounds, adding irrigation to the Major Field, adding a temporary fence to the minor field and completely redoing the t-ball area. We have an extensive list of additional improvements that will extend into the fall that will continue to make Willow Glen one of the best facilities to play ball in California District 12. The success and growth of our league depends on your support and help at this event.

We ask that each player try to get a minimum $40 in pledges. Your player can get pledges from neighbors, family and friends. Pledges can be in the form of a fixed amount, say $5 or $10 or on a per foot basis, say 50 cents a foot for the longest hit the player makes. If the player’s longest hit is 50 feet, a 50 cent /ft pledge would result in a $25 pledge. Your team parent will provide you with a pledge form. Please complete the form prior to the 21st and bring to the event.

We look forward to seeing everyone this Friday and Saturday!

Sincerely,

Bill Coleman
