The Biography of C.J. Green
Carl Edward Green Jr. was born to Carl and Veronica Green at Overlake hospital in Bellevue, Washington on November 21, 1986. When he arrived home, he was nicknamed "C.J." (short for Carl Jr.) by his uncle Kenny and has kept that name throughout his life.
He was introduced into sports at an early age beginning with karate where his talents were tested in the sparring and form competitions. Here, he learned the joy of winning, and the disappointment of losing. He went on to earn a black belt along with several awards but decided to focus on other sports.
Basketball was the next sport, and CJ played in grade school. He liked the competition, and had an unusual talent for guarding players. His style was that of a determined, and highly energetic player. As C.J. entered junior high school, he decided that he wanted to play on the varsity basketball team. He was already playing for the AAU Washington Warriors team, but felt that he would need to work harder to improve his skills if he was to be considered. He practiced countless hours working to perfect his good skills, and improve his limited skills. It paid off and he made the team.
Baseball was next, and C.J. played baseball for a short time but really wanted to try football and signed up. He started as a defensive end on the Federal Way Hawks football team, and was nicknamed "Silent Assassin" because of his "Killer Attack" on the field. He also had the Federal Way Hawks record for the most quarterback sacks of the season. Eager to learn more, he played school football at the same time. His goal was to play the position of running back and make the varsity team in eighth grade. Again, he knew that in order to compete he had to work hard to improve his skills. He studied his role models to learn what made them good. He studied tapes, and made the varsity team as the starting running back, but developed a knee injury which took him out for the majority of the season. The following year he went on to be the returning starting runningback his freshmen year for Illahee Jr. High School and had a strong season.
Now in high school, C.J. plays varsity in three sports, and is a captain for all three as well. He was recently elected ASB president, and continues to be self motivated to work very hard to improve his skills and reach whatever goals he has set for himself.
