I’m looking forward to this years 2001-2002 season of Quigley Hockey. As one of the coaches, I believe it’s our goal to continue the tradition to be respected off the ice and feared by opponents on it. Our mission is simple, to win. Our focus as coaches is to help every athlete achieve higher levels of achievement by constantly moving forward, learning new concepts, adding to your skill base, and stretching your minds so that you can realize your potential. For this season, each team and each player will have a purpose and a challenge. Your responsibility will be to give 100% of your effort, build camaraderie, learn, and have fun.
The hockey program is always looking for great leaders. These are our Captains and Assistant Captains. Not always are they the best hockey players on the ice. What makes a great leader? Great leaders have a knack for helping others see the best in themselves. Great leaders also understand the importance of team purpose, challenge, camaraderie, responsibility, and growth, and focus much of their time on creating the conditions for these to exist. Great leaders understand that their team members have needs, and that for motivation to grow and continue, the activities of the team must help in some way to meet these needs. Great leader also learn to lead by example. They give 100%, even when no one else is looking. The challenge for each of you is to have an entire team of leaders.
