Tiger Woods Autographed 1997 Masters Poster (24in x 32in)
Extremely rare Tiger Woods autographed 1997 Official Masters limited edition poster. This item is from the private collection of the seller, a former International Management Group (IMG, Tiger's management company) Golf Division executive who personally had it signed a month after the 1997 Masters. It is a beautiful Rob Brown photograph of the signature 13th Hole (Amen Corner’s Azalea Hole) at Augusta National. It was only available from Augusta National (copyright 1997 Augusta National, Inc.). The poster is in fantastic condition and the colors are amazing and sharp. The pictures here hardly do it justice. Dimensions: height 24in x width 32in.
This item is one the most unique and important pieces of Tiger memorabilia that will likely ever exist. The Tournament poster was purchased directly from Augusta National Pro Shop in 1997 and was signed by Tiger in his room at the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Las Colinas during the 1997 Byron Nelson golf tournament. This was the very next tournament Tiger entered, and he won it also, with a record 17-under par!
The poster has been in its original heavy cardboard shipping tube since being FedExed home from Augusta National in 1997 (except for being hand carried in tube to Dallas and pulled out for Tiger to sign!). It has not left my possession or even been displayed since. I decided to leave it unframed for this auction so that the buyer can decide how they would like to frame/display it. Plus it should ship more safely without the glass and frame. The poster is very sturdy (while rolled just slightly it will easy stand up), not a flimsy paper material like a movie poster. The only flaws are a few thin surface scrathes along the bottom edge on the left and a small crease in the bottom left corner - maybe 1/2 in from the corner. Both of these should be covered by the frame you choose. Other that it is in perfect condition with sharp colors and sharp edges.

Tiger Winning The 1997 Masters - His First Major

The 1997 Masters is arguably the most historically significant golf tournament ever, and most memorable in Tiger's career. Tiger could win 20 more Major Championships but this will always be his first – the one that broke records and barriers while creating a legend. The 1997 Masters was a major turning point in the history of golf, ushering in a new era.
"When the smoke cleared on Tiger Woods' tour de force at the '97 Masters, golf analysts were scrambling to put into words the awesome magnitude of his four-round feat. Only seven and a half months into his professional career, Woods became the first minority ever to win a major. His 12-stroke victory is the largest final margin in the history of major championship golf, and his 72-hole 270 eclipsed by one shot the tournament record set by Jack Nicklaus and Raymond Floyd. It's more astounding if one considers that this was accomplished by the youngest champion, at 21, in the 61 years of Masters competition." –GolfWeb
"There isn't a flaw in his golf or his makeup. He will win more majors than Arnold Palmer and me combined. Somebody is going to dust my records. It might as well be Tiger, because he's such a great kid." - Jack Nicklaus
I only know of three of these posters being autographed by Tiger and I have one of the others (which I don’t think I’ll ever sell - well maybe when Tiger wins his 20th Major or 10th Green Jacket!). And you won’t find a more beautiful, artistic or ‘display-able’ piece of memorabilia either – it’s absolutely beautiful and looks great framed on the wall. No trading card can capture this. I have a lot of great golf memorabilia from my days in the golf business, including pin flags, magazine covers, etc., but this is by far my most prized possession. Autographed Masters pin flags are a ‘dime a dozen’! A few years ago, getting Tiger to sign a Masters flag or other item was very difficult but not impossible. However, a poster of this size and heft (it's heavy duty) would be nearly impossible to get signed by the lay person. I can’t find evidence of another public auction of an Official 1997 Masters poster autographed by Tiger anywhere. I encourage you to look for yourself and determine whether this might actually be a ‘one of a kind’ auction.
"Tiger's 5-year deal with Upper Deck will not keep Woods from signing autographs, which he does a couple of times a week while briskly leaving the golf course, but he will be more selective with what he signs — hats, programs and slips of paper instead of pin flags from the Masters or glossy photographs." – May 23, 2001 Associated Press
The poster comes with a letter of authenticity signed by the seller who, as an IMG Golf executive, personally had the poster signed at the 1997 Byron Nelson Classic golf tournament in Dallas a month after the Masters, and has had the poster stored in its heavy duty Augusta National Shipping Tube (see below) ever since. The letter is lamenated with the seller's IMG business card. It is guaranteed 100% authentic.

The following letter of authenticity from the seller has been sworn to and notarized (thumb print on record) in the state of California. The seller's IMG business card has also been afixed to add to authenticity / provenance.
