High school athletes often take an all too passive approach to the college recruiting process. Student athletes think because they have talent coaches will automatically find them, or they think they don’t have enough talent to play at the college level. Both beliefs are dead wrong. The key is marketing your talents to the right programs. Since most colleges do not have the resources to actively seek out student athletes, it becomes extremely important to become pro-active in the recruiting process. College coaches are not able to sort through the thousands of high school athletes that are hoping to be part of a college program. I can show you how to set up a personal program that can improve your chances of playing College Baseball. There is a college program that fits your athletic and academic level, and together we can find it.
P.R.E.P gives you 24 hour access to advice and information on the recruiting process enabling you to be an active participant in your college quest. Do-it Yourself does not mean you are on your own. I show you how to market yourself to college coaches with an easy to follow system. I remain your advisor through the entire process. The cost is a yearly donation of only $100.00 for the program which covers our costs and helps the Service Alliance for Youth, a not for profit organization.
What does that give you?
• I send you a questionnaire and do a College Search for you based on your academic background and individual requests (size of the school, location, majors, etc.). I try not to think about your athletic abilities since college is about getting an education, not just playing baseball. You may get injured, cut, or stop playing for many reasons. You should be at a school you love and feel comfortable where you will get your education.
• I send you a list of your target schools with coaches email addresses. I will even do the initial mailing to the coaches if you request it.
• You have the ability to create a marketing strategy (emails, profiles, contacts, etc.) You can download all the information you need to set up your college program, such as sample letters and a Timeline Checklist. (Or it can be mailed or emailed to you.)
• I send you a monthly reminder of what you should be doing next.
• You have 24 hour access to me. I am available to answer your recruiting questions and give advice on what steps to take.
• Access to the Coach Email Database (you can download the database from my site or I can send it as an email attachment). The Coach Email Database contains all the college coaches email addresses. It also enables you to track your progress and keep track of contacts.
• Access to the College Timeline Checklist, which is a step by step, month by month reminder of when and what to send to your target schools.
• As you narrow down your target schools I will write letters of recommendation and scouting reports to targeted coaches. My background as a scout and my relationship with college coaches adds a valuable tool to your college quest.
I maintain The NY Prospect Report – a database of the areas top talent. Scouts, coaches and college recruiters often download the NY Prospect Report and often have ongoing dialogue about the prospects. The report consists of a constantly updated database, containing ratings and contacts for area players. Over 1500 coaches receive the report every year. I am also a scout for the Global Scouting Bureau, which procures players for the Independent, Affiliated and Foreign Leagues.
