9th ranking -- 2005-06 - State of Florida Boys Soccer -- Winter Ratings
Here is the 9th rating this year of all Florida's High School Boys Soccer teams.
Things to Note:
1. 10 rating points = 1 goal difference between teams
2. Ratings ARE comparable across classifications
3. Games decided by Penalty Kicks are considered ties in this system, by FIFA, and all national services that keep records for High School soccer.
4. A weak schedule will hurt a top team from showing that it is consistantly able to compete with the top teams.
5. The formula eliminates earning points from blowing out weaker teams by more than 6 goals.
6. It appears that Region 1 plays Region 2 in the Final 4. Region 3 plays Region 4.

Summary:
-- Wellington is #1 after its only tie is erased because Palm Beach Lakes had 2 ineligible
players. Palm Beach Lakes goes from 15-2-2 to 0-18-1.
-- #2 Sunset inches ahead of Varela due to Varela's loss. Sunset beat #45 in 6A Ferguson 6-1
and #88 in 6A Miami Southwest 7-1 this week.
-- #3 Tampa Gaither lost major points this week because Alonso (11-7-0) got reclassified from
a "4" or "top team" to a "3" or "above average team". Therefore, points earned against
Alonso were reduced. All teams that had played Alonso also lost points. Gaither did win 8-0
over Chamberlain and 4-0 over Hillsborough.
-- #4 Varela falls from #2 with a loss to Coral Park. This is the same Coral Park that
ended Sunset's 60+ game unbeaten streak earlier this season.
-- #5 Coral Park has beaten Varela and Sunset this year. When is this team going to get some
love? Haven't heard anyone else talking about them. Three losses this year are to #2
Sunset, #7 Coral Gables, and either (sunset or varela --It was a tournament and Coral Park
lost in the semis, but still haven't been able to confirm score or which they played.)
-- #6 Countryside dropped one 1-2 to #1 in 5A Palm Harbour U.
-- #7 Coral Gables had two easy wins over South Miami 5-0 and Miami Southwest 5-0.
-- #9 Miami American dropped from #6 after a 2-2 tie with #37 in 6A Miami Springs (9-1-3).
-- #10 Douglas beat St. Thomas 2-1 this week. STA scored on a PK. Only losses this year are
to #16 Lake Mary (0-1) and #4 Varela (0-1).

-- #1 goes to Palm Harbour this week with excellent wins over Alonso 4-1, Countryside 2-1, and Tampa Jesuit 2-1.
-- Auburndale drops to #2 after a decent week winning 5-2 over #35 Winter Haven & 3-1 over
#80 in 5A Lake Region. Although, Lake Region may be underrated by a lot.
-- Satellite stays at #4, but lost a few points after ties w/ Melbourne & Bishop Moore.
-- #5 Wharton adds a 1-1 tie with Tampa Freedom, and wins over Sickles 3-1 and Alonso 3-2.
-- #6 Seminole Pinellas wins 3-1 over previoulsy unbeaten 3A St. Pete Catholic.
-- #7 St. Thomas lost to 6A Douglas 1-2, but the big news is the loss of its all-state
forward Jonathan Thiel (28 goals, 18 assists) to a broken leg. Wonder what STA will do
without its "go to" guy. Region 4 is now wide open.
-- #8 Tampa Freedom updated its schedule and jumped from #20 to #8. It also tied #5 Wharton.
-- #9 Wolfson fell for the first time this year 0-2 to 6A Mandarin. Still they added 4 wins
to the record which solidified a top 10 ranking.

4A: Rankings for Florida - (Entire state includes 99 schools)
Summary:
-- The top 5 all added blemishes on its record this week to schools from larger classes.
-- #1 Jensen Beach suffered a 2-1 hangover loss to 6A Vero Beach after the Wellington game.
It came back to beat John Carroll 8-1 and South Fork 5-0 to retain the #1 spot this week.
-- Even with a loss, #2 Tampa Jesuit stays put as a strong #2. It won 2 easy games and lost
to 5A Palm Harbour University 1-2.
-- #3 Immokalee beat 5A Barron Collier 1-0, but dropped a few ratings points after
experiencing its first loss of the season 0-1 to 5A Ft. Myers.
-- #4 Pasco tied 1-1 with Mitchell this week costing it a few ratings points.
-- #5 Monarch went 3-0 outscoring its opponents 16-0 this week. A big game against
Wellington next week would certainly send a statement to the rest of 4A.
-- #7 Menendez continues its slide dropping from #2 to #7 this week. It had 3 easy wins, but
the difference was the 1-3 loss to #12 Nease. Something is amiss as Menendez beat Nease
earlier this season 3-1. Also Menendez's rating dropped after Ridgeview's rating was adjusted.
-- #9 Middleburg also went 3-0 outscoring opponents 14-0.
-- #10 Bishop Moore lost 1-2 to Lake Howell, but redeemed itself with a 1-1 tie w/ Satellite.
-- #15 Nease had a productive week with a 0-0 tie with #18 St. Augustine & a 3-1 win over #7 Menendez.
-- Ridgeview's rating was changed late on Sunday 1/15/06 from a "3" to a "2". This lowered
the points earned when playing Ridgeview. Therefore, many teams' initial rating this week has
been updated to reflect this change.

-- #1 American Heritage Plantation stays on top with a 2-0 win over 5A Barron Collier.

-- Still no new info on Walton.
-- #3 MCC's rating stayed about the same after a good 3-0 win over West Shore, a decent
tie 1-1 with 6A Spruce Creek, and a less than spectacular 3-1 win over John Carroll.
-- #4 Verot took care of business beating Gateway Ft. Myers 8-0.
-- #5 Pope John Paul played to 2 ties this week against two talented sides in 2A American
