8th ranking -- 2005-06 - State of Florida Boys Soccer -- Winter Ratings
Here is the 8th rating this year of all Florida's High School Boys Soccer teams.
Things to Note:
1. 10 rating points = 1 goal difference between teams
2. Ratings ARE comparable across classifications
3. Games decided by Penalty Kicks are considered ties in this system, by FIFA, and all national services that keep records for High School soccer.
4. A weak schedule will hurt a top team from showing that it is consistantly able to compete with the top teams.
5. The formula eliminates earning points from blowing out weaker teams by more than 6 goals.
6. It appears that Region 1 plays Region 2 in the Final 4. Region 3 plays Region 4.

Summary:
-- Tampa Gaither claims the top spot this week with 3 convincing wins. (W 6-0 Tampa
Freedom, W 3-0 #16 Alonso, W 4-2 #26 Sickles).
-- Wellington holds at #2 winning its own Tournament outscoring opponents 13-2, including a
6-0 win over #24 Spanish River and a a 4-2 win over #2 in 4A Jensen Beach.
-- Varela drops from the top spot to #3 this week with 2 wins by only a 9-4 margin.
(W 5-1 over #58 Homestead and a 4-3 win over #22 Southridge). It's a good showing,
but to stay #1, you have to be convicing all or most of the time.
-- Countryside kept a strong hold on the #5 rating with a 3-1 win over #16 Alonso.
-- #9 Killian (7-4-8) and #15 Coral Reef (6-4-7) met and tied, of course.
-- #10 Douglas got another good win under its belt by beating Monarch 2-1.

it probably played reserves).
-- #7 St. Thomas gets its fourth tie, a 0-0 stalemate with Bishop Verot showing that it is a
very good team, but not a top 3 like years past.

Summary:
-- Jensen Beach proved its worth this week with a run to the finals in the Wellington
Tournament. They lost 2-4 to Wellington in a close match & its reward is the #1 spot in 4A.
-- #2 Menendez dropped out of the top spot by enduring a 2-2 tie with Bartram Trail and 3-4
loss to #8 Middleburg.
-- Tampa Jesuit got a good tie with #2 in 5A George Jenkins 2-2.
-- Monarch proved again that they can play with the best in a 1-2 loss this week to Douglas,
but it is still looking for that big win.

Summary: Not much has changed. Bishop Verot did put up a good tie against St. Thomas and #6
Bolles came through with a 2-0 win over #11 Episcopal (Jacksonville). #8 CCC and #10 St.
Pete Catholic tied it up 1-1. Florida Christian went 1-3 at the Wellington Tournmanet, but I
have a suspision FC was holding back after its strong 1-2 loss to Jensen Beach. Need more
info on Walton. Need to give 'em a ranking or clear away the clutter.
