City of Ada adds two more recycling drop-off locations
ADA — Now it’s easier to recycle than ever before.
The city of Ada has added two more recycling drop-off locations, bringing the total to five. All five recycling trailers are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Two of the recycling drop-off locations are the same, one has changed, and there are two brand new locations. The drop-off site formerly located on the southeast corner of 6th and Stockton has been closed.
All five recycling trailers accept the same materials including various types of paper, certain grades of plastic, aluminum, tin, and cardboard. Bins at each of the drop-off sites are clearly labeled and indicate exactly what kinds of materials are acceptable.
Following are the locations of the five recycling drop-off points:
1. Wal-Mart SuperCenter parking lot
2. 326 E. 12th Street
3. 1320 S. Cradduck Road (Cougar Plaza parking lot)
4. North Hills Center parking lot (near Tractor Supply)
5. 4th and Broadway (Broadway Mall parking lot)
For more information about recycling, contact the Ada Public Works Department at (580) 436-8100.

City adds third recycling site
 | | | New Recycling Center at Wal-Mart | |
Wal-Mart is the site of city's newest recycling drop-off point.
In its continuing effort to decrease waste going to the landfill, the City of Ada has added a third recycling drop-off point in the Wal-Mart SuperCenter parking lot. A 21-foot trailer will serve as the drop-off point. The trailer is divided into bins that will handle the same recyclables as the City’s main recycling center at 326 East 12th Street and the other drop-off site at the corner of 6th and Stockton. “This is a natural place for us to add a drop-off site,” said Ada City Council member Barbara Young. “Wal-Mart is such a good recycling partner for us. They already recycle their plastic bags, motor oil and even old batteries. For us to add a drop-off center there just makes sense. It’s a highly visible location frequented by many, many people. It’s convenient--people can shop and recycle.”
Once the bins are filled at the Wal-Mart location, the trailer will be attached to a truck and hauled to the main recycling center on 12th Street. The bins will then be emptied, and the trailer will be returned to the Wal-Mart parking lot. "We anticipate a lot of recycling activity at this new site,” said Stan Fullingim, City of Ada recycling coordinator. “We may have to empty the trailer once a day, but that would be great because that means more people are recycling.”

Stan the Recycling Man
The following are tips from Stan Fullingim. Stan is the City of Ada's Recycing Coordinator.
Please check back often, as Stan will be adding and updating information as it becomes necessary.
Contamination Nightmares
The biggest headache in collecting recyclables is contamination. When it happens to our recycling collection the entire load often has to be landfilled, because the material has lost its value.
Contamination occurs when recyclables are not prepared or disposed of properly. Please help control this serious problem by checking proper preparation procedures.
The golden rule of recycling... If in doubt, leave it out!
