About SYBA

Welcome to the Silverton Youth Basketball Association ('SYBA')!

SYBA offers a competitive youth basketball program open to boys and girls entering 4th-8th grade.

SYBA also offers a recreational youth basketball program ('MVP League') for boys and girls

entering 3rd - 6th grade. Participants and members must reside within the boundaries of

or attend either Silver Falls or Mt. Angel district schools.

The purpose of SYBA shall be to promote competitive youth basketball in a fun and

learning environment that emphasizes the importance of hard work, discipline, respect,

teamwork, and skill development by competing at a level that best prepares

participants for high school varsity-level basketball.

SYBA Program Objectives

To develop each player's fundamental basketball skills, sportsmanship, and character. To provide each player with an athletically challenging and developmentally rewarding experience as a member of a well-organized and coached team. To provide players with the opportunity to test their skills at an appropriate competitive level through tournament basketball.

Tournament Basketball

Tournament basketball will be an age/skill appropriate style of competitive basketball. All games are played on Saturday and Sunday (Typically two (2) games each day.) and most tournaments are held in middle school and high school gyms located in the mid-valley. Past SYBA teams have participated in tournaments held in Lincoln City, Sisters, and the Portland Metro area.

SYBA Tournament Season

The SYBA tournament team season runs approximately from November 1st through March 31st. Each team will play in six (6) tournaments, two (2) of which are hosted at Silverton High School. Additional tournaments may be added depending upon conversations between the coach, team, parents, and SYBA Board.
