2014/2015 MVP Teams

Mid-Valley Prep League

SYBA has formed the Mid-Valley Prep (MVP) League. MVP is designed for girls and boys, grades 3 - 6. The purpose of MVP is to offer players in the mid-valley area the opportunity to develop their basic basketball skills and knowledge, prepare them to advance to a higher level of play, and have fun through the game. The MVP will also cater to families who may not be ready for the travel, time, and competitive commitment required of tournament play.

The MVP League offers combined 3rd/4th and 5th/6th teams with players of all skill levels split equally between teams. MVP games will be officiated according to High School rules with modest changes. The MVP will keep score, track fouls, and allow the players to play 'real basketball' in order to further develop their fundamental basketball skills. Although this league is not tournament level play, it is competitive play,  and it is perfect for those kids wanting to continue playing and improve their overall game.

The MVP plan is for games to be played in Silverton and the other participating communities on Saturdays, beginning in mid-January with a preseason jamboree. The season will extend through the end of February with an end-of-season playoff. Teams will play a double header each Saturday. The total amount of games played over the season will be determined by the number of teams participating.

On-line registration for SYBA's MVP League is open from September 13th - November 15. SYBA will have evaluations for MVP team placement. The evaluation is necessary to help split all player skill levels equally between multiple teams in an age group. Teams are unisex, NOT co-ed.
