SIFL (Founded 1995)
Welcome to the homepage of the Shanghai International Football League, Shanghai's premier football league. This amateur league was formed in 1995. Many players from many different countries have played in this league, and we like to think that it has already became one of the most competitive Expat Amateur leagues in Asia. Testament to that is when teams such as Shooters and Japan regularly win overseas/international tournaments.
Although this website has been constructed in the helping of the organisation of the league, we also hope that you enjoy our site, and that some of the information is of good use to you.
If you are looking for a team to play with, then click on the teams tag, and choose which team you think you will be most suited to.

Wednesday, June 17
This season will start on Saturday 19 September 2009, with our usual Opening Tournament. The league campaign will start the following week on Saturday 26 September 2009. We are pleased to announce that we will have more teams this season, with Long Tang AFC and more to be announced. So we will have a minimum of 10 teams in the Premier Division and teams in the 1st Division to be announced mid August. The Premier Division will play each other a minimum of twice. Tom Gurney will be our fixture supremo this year and will have the draft schedule ready at the mid/end August to forward to team Captains, we ask that the drafts be returned within 7 days so they necessary alterations can be made. The final schedule will then be available on the website 14 days prior to kick off of the first games of the season.
2 teams will be promoted from 1st Division to Premier Division, and 2 teams will be relegated from Premier Division to 1st division.
Please be reminded that suspensions from last season are carried forward. So check the suspensions page before your first game.
League fees for this season will be RMB 14,500. The first instalment of RMB 7,500 is due before or on September 12th 2009, along with RMB 1,000 crime count deposit. The remaining RMB 7,000 will be due before or on Saturday 19th January 2008. Also RMB 1,000 deposit for the closing ceremony awards evening will be payable in two parts, the first RMB 500 payable with the first instalment prior to the season starting and the balance payable at the beginning of January 2010.
We will again play our matches at Tianma Country Club. However, we will need to use 1 field downtown due to the increase in teams. This is looking likely to be Century Park again at this moment in time. Originally we were going to allocate 4 teams to this field on a home and away basis, but we will now try and split as eveningly as possible all teams getting games at the downtown venue.
As the SIFL is a non profit organisation, the committee will give back excess funds to the clubs, in terms of lower registration fees, or discounted End of Season Party tickets. All money collected from "Fines" will go to a nominated charity.
Could captains please have their team registered by August 10 2009, by e-mailing Thorsten and Daniel a completed registration form that is attached. Please remember that any new players must have a digital photo supplied and an individual waiver form which will be supplied later. Any player that is not on the registration form that you supply to us, that was registered last season, will be automatically deleted from the team roster. If players from last year are still to be on your roster this season, just write down his name, no picture will be required.
The committee this year, will consist of Colin Hunter, Daniel Berger, Brian Wallace, Roland Broughton, Tom Gurney, Thorsten Kalus and Jeff Hu.
Finally, could I ask each of your teams website administrator to remove any pictures that are no longer required, and only download pictures less than 250K for normal pictures and less than 50k for registration pictures. I will delete any picture over the 250K. The website has a limited memory, and 90% is already taken up. Thx.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail to myself, or you can leave your question on the message board.
