WELCOME TO SIERRA LITTLE LEAGUE'S 2010 SEASON!

Sierra Little League is a non-profit organization celebrating its’ 55th Anniversary serving our community.   Our league currently includes four divisions for boys and girls ages 4-18 years old.  First established in 1955, Sierra Little League is dedicated to providing neighborhood children an opportunity to learn and play baseball.  Since its earliest beginning Little League Baseball has been a program of service to the youth.  Little League is dedicated to helping children become contributing citizens.  It strives to inspire them with goals and to enrich their lives toward the day they will take their place in our community. Winning is nice, yet the experience of winning passes quickly.  The skills of baseball will be used in the short years of youth but the values of leadership, fair-play, sportsmanship, teamwork and friendship, learned in Little League Baseball, are the building blocks of the future and will last a lifetime.

Our Boundaries Are

West of Watt Ave., East of levee (past Norwood), North of the American River and South of Interstate 80.  To see a map please follow the  following link: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=115115305539589685544.000445805eda40e3b4e13&ie=UTF8&z=12&om=0

Sierra Little League is run solely on volunteers with all of our children in mind.  We are always looking for responsiable and enthusiastic individuals to support or join the board, coaching, team parent and voluntering at special events.  Any skill or talent you have is much needed and any amount of time you give is greatly appreciated.  All volunteers must pass a back ground check and fill out a Little League Volunteer Application.  This is available at: http://www.littleleague.org/Assets/forms_pubs/VolunteerApp2010_mandatorySSN.pdf

Managers

A manger (head coach) is the person who cordinates all team practices and games.  They are responsible for the team equipment and ensure all players and coaches abide by the rules of the game.  They should also be the first contact for parents for any issues that may arise during the season and communicate those issues to the board.  Managers select their coaches and team parents.

Coach

Coaches assist the manager with practices and games.  Each team is allowed only two "official" coaches in addition to the manager, however all other parents who wish to participate in games or practices are encouraged to do so.

Team Parent

The team parent is the person in charge of communicating information to the team.  This includes pratices and game schedules, snack schedules and any other pertinent league information.  The team parent is also responsible for the creation of a team banner. It is cruial to have a team parent assume responsibility of these tasks in order to allow the manager and coaches tofocus on training the players.

Important: All managers, coaches, team parents, umpires and other volunteers with direct contact with the players MUST submit a volunteer application with a clear copy of Drivers License or Ca. ID. This form is available at:  http://www.littleleague.org/Assets/forms_pubs/VolunteerApp2010_mandatorySSN.pdf

Sponsors

It is essitial for our league sucess to have wonderful sponsors like yourself.  This helps us provide more opportunities for children to play who other wise may not have been able to.  Also defraying the costs of field rental, maintenance, equipment purchases and training programs for all participants in all division.
