Central Connecticut Girls Hockey League - 2008 - 2009
The CCGHL is the first all Public School League containing Girl Hockey Players from their respective cities and towns in the State of Connecticut. The league's first Commissioner, Kip Sowpel, has been involved with Simsbury Girls Ice Hockey since 1987. At that time Mr. Sowpel, was the pioneer statesman of girls public school hockey in Connecticut that won approval by Simsbury Public High School as an after school activity. Very soon after that, the program developed further with the introduction of Junior Varsity and 3rds programs to serve as it's own feeder system, since girls youth hockey was still in it's infancy. Still today the Simsbury High School Lady Trojans program, continues to attract 50-60 players each season. Their team moto of to "BE THE BEST" remains to be their huddle cheer since the early years.

The CCGHL is starting their exciting sixth year with league members of: Simsbury, West Hartford, Hamden, Guilford, HAND, West Haven and Notre Dame (Fairfield)
