Somerville High School Baseball: Hall of Fame
Joe DiSarcina - 2005
Joe DiSarcina was a member of the 1965 Somerville High School State Championship team has been honored as the first member of the SHS Baseball Hall of Fame. DiSarcina is the most distinguished player to have ever played for the Highlanders. After leading the team to the State Championship he went on two UMass at Amherst and captained the basketball team and baseball team, leading the baseball team to the College World Series. He went on to get drafted by the San Diego Padres and after his professional career was over he returned to his alma mater to coach the local team. He was a State Coach of the Year and led the the team to its last Greater Boston League Championship in 1987.
