Welcome to the Official Web Site for Somerville High School Varsity Baseball Team. This site will serve as the main site for information on the varisty team( for information on the Junior Varsity and Freshman team use their pages found on the menu on the left side of this page or by using the headline links below ). The 2005 Highlanders will be led by third year head coach Mike Powers, who hopes to build on a promising first two seasons. Powers a Somerville High School graduate was a member of the last Greater Boston League Championship Team in 1987 and he hopes to get the 2005 team to the title and a spot in the State Tournament.

SHS Athletics Mission Statement

Good sportsmanship is the attitude and behavior that exemplifies positive support
For the interscholastic programs of Somerville high school, as well as for the individuals
Who participate in those programs, whether they be the player or the spectator.
People involved in all facets of the game are expected to demonstrate respect
Others and display good sportsmanship.

2005 SHS Coaching Staff Announced

Mike Powers is returning to lead the Highlander Varsity Baseball team for the 3rd season. Powers team have improved each of his first 2 seasons and hope to make a run in Greater Boston League play. Powers announced that Junior Varisty Coach Shawn Nadeau is also returning for his 3rd season and Mark Antonelli will head up the Freshman team in his first year at the position.
