This the is the official site of the Somerville Highlanders Alumni /Alibrandis Baseball Team.
The team has become a dynasty in Boston's Yawkey Baseball League, winning the League Championship in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 2005, 2006 and 2007. Conference Championships in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 made playoff apperances in 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 2004 ,2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and won the league Stewart Memorial Tournament in 1991, 1992 & 1998. The team has also enjoyed National Recognition starting the 2003 Season as the 11th ranked team in the United States by the National Semi-Pro Baseball Association.
The team was founded in 1990 and in 2009 the team will be playing its 20th season as part of Boston's Yawkey Baseball League. In that time they have sent over 30 players and coaches to take part in the YBL's annual All Star Game at Fenway Park. Field Manager Mike Powers has managed 11 All Star Games(97,98-07) and the team has had the games MVP 7 times over the years.
The team has been sponsored by Alibrandis Barber Shop since 1994( see our sponsor section ).
The team is better know as "Somerville Alibrandis" ever since.
2009 Marks 20th Season for the Somerville Highlander/Alibrandis Baseball Club
The upcoming 2009 season will mark the 20th season for the local team that joined the Yawkey Baseball League in 1990. In those past 19 season, the team has grown into one of the best semi-pro baseball teams in the state of Massachusetts.
The team played its first game on May 15th, 1990 at Ross Park against Henry's Baseball Club. Current field manager Mike Powers was the starting pitcher, and helped guide the team to a 4-3 victory. After 19 seasons the team has won 10 YBL Titles and sent many of its players to the league Hall of Fame.
Over the course of this season the team plan on doing many events to recognize this milestone.

YBL Plays on Doubleday Field at the Baseball Hall of Fame
This past weekend 2 Yawkey Baseball League teams, the Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Team and the Revere Rockies, traveled up to Cooperstown, New York to play at the birthplace of baseball Doubleday Field at the Baseball Hall of Fame. The teams played 2 exhibition games that was viewed by many of the tourists who were also visiting the Hall of Fame. Revere won game 1, and the two teams tied game 2.

2008 Alumni Game - Current Players win big 17-10
The second annual Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Alumni Softball Game took place October 11th atg Trum Field. The game featured teams made up of current members of the team against a team comprised of retired former players. The Alumni team defeated the 2007 YBL Champs in 9 innings 13-10 to take the innagural game, this year the current players evened the all time series with a 17-10 victory. After the game the team went back to On the Hill Tavern accross from Trum Field where the team watched game 2 of the American League Championhsip Series.
