For most of you I dont need an introduction, but for some of you I might. My name is Josh Hunsberger and I am one of the charter Sharks. So I was with Clint on his back porch when we had our first meeting. I lived in New Haven for the past 6 years (2001-2007) where I completed my PhD at Yale in neuroscience. I am now down in Bethesda, MD, working at the National Institute of Health where I study bipolar illness. In addition, I also love the sport of triathlon. I came into the sport as a runner inspired by my Mom, but I also had some swimming and biking background. Ive competed in numerous race distances ranging from sprint triathlons and 5Ks to Ironman distance triathlons and Ultramarathons. Now I am turning my attention to coaching. I love making up training plans and sharing my experience with others to help them achieve their dreams. Eric Hodska graduated in 1991 from Southern Connecticut State University with B.S. degrees in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition. Following his graduation, Eric was a Cardiac Technician at Meriden/Wallingford Hospital. He then accepted a position as the Assistant Manager of Chrysler Capital Corporations Corporate Health and Fitness Center in Stamford, CT. Eric then became the first director of General Electric Capitals Corporate Health and Fitness program, starting this program at the ground level and developing it to an 85% activity level.
During his employment at Chrysler Capital and GECC, Eric began an ongoing practice of presenting seminars on health, fitness and nutrition to many area corporations, universities, and community centers. His seminar clients include Xerox, Clairol, Bristol-Meyers, Titliest, NYNEX, and MTV.
In 1995, Eric created his own personal training and health /fitness/nutrition practice, Effective Fitness. In this practice, he serves a wide variety of men and women in the Fairfield County area, and has also built a thriving following of athletes whom he coaches in all types of sports around the United States. Many of these athletes have achieved highly significant personal goals through Erics guidance.
In 2000, Eric introduced his initial triathlon training five day camp with tremendous success. Many athletes who have attended and also attended other various professional tricamps have remarked on how Eric's tricamps are the best one's going, offering superb training in unbelievably scenic surroundings, one on one coaching, testing, tons of information on nutrition, training, racing, training with HR zones, training with power, incredible accomodations, great food, and much more. Eric now offers three camps throughout the country as well as one day clinics and seminars.
Eric is a top-ranked amateur triathlete who has competed in the highly competitive Hawaii Ironman Triathlon six times, with a best time of 9 hours and 19 minutes. He has qualified for the Hawaii IM every year from 1996 to 2004, taking 2005 off from racing seriously to recharge. He holds the course record for Ironman USA in the 30-34 age group (9hrs24min) and has been selected by USA Triathlon as a five-time all-American. He also holds a 1/2 IM personal best of 4:01.
