Welcome to our Smoky Hill High School Cross Country Page!
Summer 2008 Important Dates:
July 2nd - 1st day of summer mini-camp @ 8:00 am at Smoky Hill Activities area. This is where fitness for the season begins! We will meet each weekday morning for running, stretching, strength training and some fun events!
July 22nd - Tuesday, July 22nd was our 3rd annual ascent of Gray's and Torrey's Peaks (14ers). Most bagged Grays, and many bagged Torreys as well! See pictures under "Photo Albums."
July 28-31 - High Altitude Camp in Grand Lake. We had 17 athletes who achieved new heights in their running! See pictures under "photo albums."
August 11 - 1st day of official practice. Please complete your athletic check-in process.
2008 T-Shirt and Spirit Pack: Under "Links" button - click and order your shirt, hoodie, or other gear. Please keep the front design uniform for 2008. We are a team!
Whether you have run before or not, come join our team and experience the fun of getting fit, while discovering how to tap into that limitless well of strength that lies inside each one of us. Our runners come from all walks of Smoky Hill student life; we have had a class officer, 2 valedictorians, IB students, multi-sport athletes, drama students, musicians, skateboarding lovers, and one student who invented "Nillihc!" However, after one season of training, racing, and sharing our gifts with one another, we all become a part of the Smoky Hill Cross country family!
One of my favorite running quotes is: "Running is the classical road to self-consciousness, self-awareness and self-reliance. Independence is the outstanding characteristic of a runner. He learns the harsh reality of his physical and spiritual limitations when he runs. He learns that personal commitment, sacrifice and determination are his only means to betterment. Runners get promoted only through self-conquest."
While you are here, visit the "Albums" link on the left to see pictures of our team in training, having pasta parties, and experiencing life through our awesome sport! Also check the Message Center and Links pages for information and news.
