WELCOME! -- This is the Sheldon High School Girls Basketball website. The site provides information about the current Sheldon basketball program as well as its history. Announcements about basketball-related activities and opportunities will be updated regularly.
SHELDON HOOP NOTES:
Annual timed-mile run scheduled Sunday -- At 3:00 pm on the Sheldon track, the basketball program will hold its annual timed-mile. Dress for the weather.
First tryout set for Monday -- All candidates for a Sheldon basketball team are welcome to try out Monday at 6:00 pm in the main gym. All registration material needs to be completed in the athletic office before that time. See Julia Girod for information.
Missed the shoe fitting? -- If you were unable to order team basketball shoes for the upcoming season at the shoe fitting last week, contact coach Luke Roth if you interested in ordering shoes at Nike's discounted price.
Coaching staff set for upcoming season -- The Sheldon coaching staff is settled for the 2009-2010 season. Luke Roth will lead the Irish program for his 26th season and will be assisted by Mike Barclay and Jeff Wingate at the varsity level. Brian Brancato will coach the JV team and will be assisted by Clay Meyers. In a recent annoucement, Cory McGraw returns to the Sheldon sidelines as JV2 coach and Laurie Slonecker ('01) will assist.
Open Gym -- The final open gym of the fall season will take place Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7:00 pm in the upper gym.
Strength training -- The final weight session of the fall season will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:00 pm in the weight room
Female Athletes & Parents Free Injury Prevention Clinic -- Learn how to train properly and prevent future injuries....from an expert. Laura Ramus, WNBA Detroit Shock Head Athletic Trainer, is a nationally renowned speaker on female athletes and ACL injury prevention. The clinic will be held at West Linn HS on Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 pm.
State Tournament moves to the Rose Garden -- In an announcement by the OSAA, a decision to move the 6A girls basketball state tournament from the University of Portland's Chiles Center to the Rose Garden will take place this season. The Chiles Center has hosted the girls state tournament since 1983. The final eight boys and girls 6A teams will play at the Rose Garden. The 5A girls tournament moves to Eugene and will be paired with the 5A boys at Mac Court next year.
