FOR THE KIDS
BE THE BEST THAT YOU CAN BE!
One of the unique benefits of belonging to Babe Ruth League, Inc. is that each chartered league and certified commissioner provides valuable input that improves the program. We surveyed our membership regarding a Coaches Certification Program. As we value your opinion and base our future actions on a group consensus, we are pleased to announce that the survey results were favorable and the International Board of Directors of Babe Ruth League, Inc. has approved the American Sport Education Program (ASEP) to provide our official training course.
Today, more than ever, children need positive role models. Today, more than ever, children need a wholesome outlet such as organized youth sports for the betterment of their physical and social well being. Today, more than ever, coaches need to go beyond teaching the rules and basics of the game. Every Babe Ruth manager and coach has an obligation to his/her players to provide them with the best possible instruction and leadership of which he/she is capable.
The American Sport Education Program is the leading provider of youth sport education programs in the United States. ASEP is a division of Human Kinetics and is one of the premier coaching education programs in the market today. ASEP has educated more than a million coaches, officials, parents and athletes. Athletes First, Winning Second is their philosophy, and for over 25 years, local, state, and national organizations have partnered with ASEP to make sports successful and enjoyable for all involved.
ASEP, in conjunction with Babe Ruth League, Inc. and Ripken Baseball, Inc. is designing on-line coaching courses specifically for Babe Ruth Baseball, Cal Ripken Baseball and Babe Ruth Softball managers and coaches. There is no single action that can have a more positive impact on our players than to improve the quality and knowledge of our managers and coaches. It is a known fact that the managers and coaches are the individuals who are in the position to make a childs experience in youth sports fun and memorable. Therefore, it is very important youth coaches be properly trained to focus on the childs baseball and softball experience and less on winning games.
Today marks the launch of a brand-new website developed and hosted by Human Kinetics. This course is totally self-instructional; self-paced and offered online for convenience. The Babe Ruth League Coaching Education Center: Powered by Ripken Baseball, found at www.BabeRuthCoaching.org will serve as the home base for Babe Ruth Baseball, Cal Ripken Baseball and Babe Ruth Softball coaches looking to gain certification, as well as for the league administrators responsible for ensuring their coaches get properly trained and certified.
For the 2007 season, the Coaches Certification Program will be offered as an option to introduce our leagues to this superb training curriculum. A Coaches Certification Program will be required for all Cal Ripken Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball and Babe Ruth Softball managers and coaches beginning with the 2008 season. This course is totally self instructional, self paced and is offered online for convenience. The cost is merely $19.95, and the certification is good for three years. If your managers and coaches pre-register online to take the course for the 2007 season, the certification will be valid through the 2010 season making it an even bigger value. We encourage league administrators and coaches to visit the website to pre-register for their course now and to learn more about the total program. By pre-registering now, coaches will receive an email notification advising them when the courses become available.
As always, we greatly appreciate all the time you devote for the benefit of our young athletes. Because of your input, it is our ongoing goal to make sure that the Babe Ruth League program continues to be your program. Thank you for helping to make Babe Ruth League, Inc. the premier baseball and softball program it is today.
