In a spirited back-and-forth battle, the Kenosha Kings ultimately prevailed Thursday night, defeating the Racine Kiwanis 5-4 in 10 innings.    The victory gave the Kings a Langsdorf League Championship Series sweep and their 3rd consecutive title.

The game was scoreless until the sixth when Racine broke through for a run.  After Kenosha matched it, Racine was able to tally two more runs and had a chance to secure victory in the bottom of the ninth.   That was not to be, however, as John Lequia doubled home the tying run to send the game to extra innings.

In the 10th, Jake Lueneburg of the Kiwanis tripled home the lead run to give the Kiwanis a second chance to put the game away.   Kenosha, however, had other plans.   With one out and runners on second and third, Kenosha's Billy Johnson lined a single to left.    Jason Dennis scored easily and Mark Cibriaro, with a good jump from second, ignored the advice of his third base coach and raced home to score the winner to please the nice crowd at Simmons Field in Kenosha.

For his efforts, Billy Johnson was named the Championship Series MVP.    Billy earned a trophy and $50 gift card from Burghardt Sporting Goods.

After the game, Kenosha was awarded more hardware for its growing collection along with $250 to celebrate and memorialize their successful year as they see fit.

Congratulations to the following 2009 Langdorf League Regular Season Individual Batting and Pitching Champions.   Both players were honored on Thursday August 6 prior to Game 2 of the Langsdorf League Championship Series.   For their achievements, each player earned a trophy and $50 gift card to Burghardt Sporting Goods.

Batting Leader: John Hasser of Kenosha led the league with a .466 Average in 58 at bats.  Hasser also had 13 RBI's.

Pitching Leader: Chad Ori of Kenosha led the league with a 3.40 ERA in 45 innings.   Ori also led the league with 6 wins and finished with 31 K's.

2009 Regular Season as well as 2009 Playoff Stats have all been entered.
