FOOTBALL MANAGERS & STUDENT-ATHLETIC TRAINERS
ARE NEEDED FOR OUR 2011 FOOTBALL SEASON
Student Team Managers and Student-Athletic Trainers are an important part of the Service Cougar Football Program. They assist our coaches, take care of our players, and support the team at all events.
Are you interested in becoming a Football Manager or Trainer for the 2011 Football Season? NOW is the time to make that decision because the Service Cougar Football Program is offering wonderful opportunities to our Student Team Managers and Student-Athletic Trainers. Barbara Taylor, a Certified Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist, will be working with our team. She is offering in-depth training to our students during the off-season. Ms. Taylor is very dedicated, and enthusiastic about helping students explore a possible career in Athletic Training or Sports Medicine. She is a definite asset to the Service Cougar Football Program.

RED CROSS TRAINING SCHEDULE
Students who want to earn their CPR / AED / First Aid certifications can do so through Alaska's Red Cross training program. Visit the Red Cross website at www.alaska.redcross.org to view their class schedule. You can also download the Red Cross Training Schedule from their website.
2011 SPORTS MEDICINE / ATC CLASSES
ATC (Certified Athletic Training) classes are open to any high school student or athlete interested in learning more about Sports Medicine, Injury Prevention, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, or other similar topics. No tuition is required for students who attend the ATC classes. Parents and coaches are also welcome to attend.
Program coordinator, Barbara Taylor, will arrange field trips, guest speakers, and hands-on experience for participating students. Topics will include Exercise Physiology, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Orthopedic Surgery, Radiology, Certified Athletic Training, Taping, Proper Hydration, and more. Barbara plans to explore anything students express an interest in and try to find guest speakers or plan field trips to observe people at work. She will also try to arrange mentors for students who want additional experience in other settings.

SPECIAL NOTE:
All students interested in becoming Student-Athletic Trainers for the Service Cougar Football Team must attend at least 80% of the ATC classes each season, pass skills testing, and earn / maintain their S-ATC Certification. They must also earn and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
