"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill sheperds the weak through the Valley of Darkness, for he is truly his brothers keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know, my name is the lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Sentinels Crush Corona, 40-0
 | | |
The Corona Panthers, filling in for the Riverside Cowboys, who could not field a team in time for the season opener, was humiliated Saturday afternoon. The Panthers wished that they had not volunteered to play against the Sentinels(1-0) at Arlington High. The Sentinels defense was way ahead of the Offensive unit and did not allow a first down for the entire game enroute to a 40-0 thrashing.
The defense led by Derrick Wilson's five sacks on the day, scored a touchdown and had a fumble recovery and blocked a punt. An Amazing Afternoon for 'The Badd Boys'.
The Sentinels offense was missing a big portion of their running game as Brian Flowers did not start. Instead Coach Harvey was given an opportunity to take a look at his other runners. Running backs D'Andre Hall, Melvin DuBose, Laronzo Bursey and Wide Receiver Matthew Simon each scored a touchdown on the day.
After having only two pre-season scrimmages the Sentinels looked a little rusty at first but started to come together in the second half with sustained drives on offense and a swarming defense with bad intentions.
The Sentinels started the new campaign on the road as they have only one scheduled Home game all season. This trip took over three hours in total traveling time to Riverside County. Next up is a afternoon game at University High in Irvine as we face the Chargers(0-1), who lost last week to Norwalk 6-40.
Kickoff Time is scheduled for 3:00PM, Players to arrive at Sentinel Field at Noon, Bus departs at 12:45PM SHARP!

Sentinels Ground the Chargers, 42-0
 | | | | RB ANTHONY BELL MAKES A JUGGLING CATCH |
|
On a beautiful fall afternoon the Sentinels took the field to face off with the Chargers. Irvine lost the coin toss and every other encounter they tried on the day as the Sentinels stood tall, 42-0. The kickoff was promptly recovered by the Sentinels' Anthony Bell to set up great field position and on the first play from scrimmage QB Larry Woods hit WR Matthew Simon with a 28 yard scoring strike to make it 6-0 with less than a minute gone in the game.
After holding the Chargers to their usual three downs and out, RB D'Andre Hall scored on a 34 yard scamper around the left side for a 12-0 lead. The Badd Boys Defense gave up a first down, the only one allowed all game, and then forced the Chargers to punt and Matthew Simon scored his second touchdown of the day, as he returned it 68 yards to the House and Larry Woods added the extra point as the lead increased 20-0 by halftime.
The third quarter began as the Sentinels(2-0) drove down the field as FB Derrick Wilson scored on a three yard burst up the middle as the score expanded to 26-0. On the ensuring kickoff Irvine fumbled the ball away as Anthony Bell scooped up his second recovery of the day.
On the next play RB Laronzo Bursey scores on a 22 yard dash to the Zone, Kevin Ellison scored the extra-point to make it 34-0.
As the Chargers(0-2) took the kickoff and started downfield they tried a lateral that did not fool the 'Badd Boys' as Laronzo Bursey pick the ball out the air and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown, D'Andre Hall scored the extra-point to close out the scoring for the day.
The defense came up strong again, led by Derrick Wilson's four sacks, holding the Chargers to a minus -22 yards on 25 plays. The only first down in the game by Irvine was the first of the season allowed by the 'Badd Boys' Defense.
Next week the game is at least near Inglewood, as the Sentinels face the South Bay Packers(0-2), who lost to Garden Grove 0-43, at Jackie Robinson Stadium @ Dorsey High. This will be the Sentinels first game under the lights as kickoff is scheduled for 7:00PM, Players are to report to the Stadium at 5:00PM.

Sentinels Big Plays Too Much for the Packers, 34-6
 | | |
The Sentinels took the field for their first game under the lights as South Bay played host at Jackie Robinson Stadium. After adjusting to night play the Sentinels struck as FB Kevin Ellison took the ball and a few players on his back all the way to the Packers' one yard line and the Sentinels(3-0) wasted little time as QB Andrew Simpson carried the ball over the goal line for a touchdown and hit TE Chet Sanders with extra-point pass to make the score 8-0 with 7:26 left in the quarter.
The Sentinels defense held the Packers(0-3) to three downs and a punt. The punt was returned 68 yards for a touchdown by Matthew Simon with 4:35 left on the clock.
After holding the Packers on downs the Sentinels offense made a miscue as they fumbled the ball inside the ten yard line shortly before half. The defense was spreaded out as they gave up their first touchdown season as South Bay scored on a fourteen yard pass with five seconds on the clock.
The third quarter had QB Andrew Simpson throwing a five yard strike to TE Chet Sanders for a touchdown while Laronzo Bursey followed up by scoring the extra-point for a 22-6 lead.
The 'Badd Boys' did their usual fine job by halting all attempts made by the Packers offense to sustain a drive. After punting and giving the Sentinels great field postiton Laronzo Bursey scored his second TD of the night on a fifteen yard pass from Andrew Simpson to increase the lead to 28-6 with 1:04 left in the quarter.
The offense scored once more on a fantastic 58 yard zig zag run across the field by D'Andre Hall making the final score 34-6 and leaving the Sentinels in first place in the Atlantic league.
Next week is very exciting as the Sentinels will be at home for their first and only appearance of the year. Mark your calendars it will be Homecoming Night as the South Gate Rams(2-1) come to Sentinel Field for a 7PM kickoff. Players are to report at 5:00PM SHARP!

Thunder and Lightning Strikes Homecoming
Not the weather but Melvin 'Thunder' DuBose and Brian 'Lightning' Flowers struck down the South Gate Rams 46-2 on Homecoming night.
On the first play on defense Coach T. called his customary "Maddog Blitz" and Thunder struck down the Rams quaterback on the handoff as he came in untouched and that was all for their QB for the night as he left with a dislocated elbow. The House of Pain. The player was carried off the field to await the Paramedics.
On Homecoming night the Sentinels celebrated their only home appearance of the season with a fabulous performance. At the halfway mark of the season the Sentinels remain undefeated at 4-0, 2-0.
Captain 'Lightning' Brian Flowers which has been hampered by nagging injuries all season broke out scoring three touchdowns on runs of 28, 24 and 60 yards on the night.
On the third play from scrimmage Laronzo Bursey took the handoff and went sixteen yards for a 6-0 score. After forcing a fumble that was recovered by Melvin DuBose, the Sentinels went to work and after four plays QB Andrew Simpson swept the right side to score a 14 yard touchdown, RB Kenneth Ashley scored the extra-point for a 14-0 lead with 3:10 left in the first quarter.
After holding the Rams(2-2) to three downs and a punt, the Sentinels took over as the quarter ended. The first play of the second quarter saw Brian Flowers take a pitch and go left, shake and bake three tackles and raced 28 yards for a touchdown. Kevin Ellison scored the extra-point for a 22-0 lead.
After calling a time out Coach T. awaken the 'Badd Boys' as on the very next play Anthony Dixon swept left and 'Thunder' struck again as DuBose stripped the ball away and recovered it for the Sentinels. The offense could not keep the drive going and South Gate took over on downs. The Rams tried to go to the air and was immediately picked off as Laronza Bursey intercepted the ball at the goal line and fell into the endzone. However the referee was out of position to make the call and spotted the Sentinels the ball at the one yard line. On the next play the Rams scored their only points of the game with a safety.
It only took :59 seconds of the second half to get back to the endzone as Brian Flowers scored on a 24 yard gallop up the middle. A QB sneek by Andrew Simpson accounted for the extra-point and a 30-0 advantage.
On their next possession the Rams fumbled away the ball as Chet Sanders made the recovery. One play later QB Andrew Simpson rolls out to the right and picks up a wall of blockers and takes it to the house for a 40 yard touchdown. D'Andre Hall added the extra-point for a 38-2 lead with 5:16 left in the third quarter.
After holding the Rams to three and a punt 'Lightning' struck again as Brian Flowers took the punt 60 yards for his third touchdown of the night. Big Kenneth Ashley scored the extra-point as that ended the scoring because of the Mercy Rule.
The 'Badd Boys' defense rose to the occasion allowing a minus -5 yards in total offense.
Our journey continues with a trip to Fountain Valley in Orange County to meet the Jaguars(1-2). Players are to report to Sentinel Field at Noon, bus will depart at 12:45PM, Kickoff at 3:00PM.

Jaguars Caged by the Sentinels, 46-0
 | | |
On a warm overcast Southern California afternoon the Inglewood Sentinels lined up against the Jaguars at Fountain Valley High. Their mission "Let's Have Some Fun".
Quickly the 'Badd Boys' struck, on third and ten SS Larry Woods picked off a pass and returned it twenty-nine yards to the House. As Chet Sanders scores the extra-point pass from Andrew Simpson it's 8-0 with 7:50 left in the quarter.
With the Jaguars(1-3) forced to punt on the next series, the Sentinels(5-0) offense finally was able to take the field for the first time. With one play the Sentinels struck down the Jaguars as QB Andrew Simpson hit a wide open WR Matthew Simon with a twenty-nine yard touchdown pass. Simpson then sneak over for the extra-point and a 16-0 lead after only four minutes of the game.
It proved to be a long day for Fountain Valley as another three plays and a punt. This time it took a whole four plays before the Sentinels scored as Brian Flowers scored on a three yard dive with 2:28 left in the first quarter.
The nightmare first quarter for the Jaguars was not over as they started on their own ten yard line, after three plays they fumbled in the endzone for a safety with :54 seconds left and down 24-0.
The second quarter was not much better as the Jaguars was held to one series of three plays and Chet Sanders burst through and blocked the punt, giving the Sentinels great field position. Two plays later FB Derrick Wilson scored on a three yard run and D'Andre Hall scored the extra-point for a 32-0 lead at half time.
The third quarter got off to a bang as the Sentinels took the kickoff and drove to the forty and the Jaguars stood and held them to a fourth and thirteen. Coach Harvey called a simple draw up the middle and wide receiver turned running back Matthew Simon went untouched 40 yards for the score. Anthony Bell added the extra-point for a 40-0 advantage.
With less than two minutes left in the game the 'Badd Boys', who held the Jaguars to a minus -18 yards in the game on thirty plays, stopped Fountain Valley and took over on downs at the 42 yard line. Two plays later RB Anthony Bell broke through the defenders and scored on a 58 yard gallop to make the final score 46-0.
The Sentinels seem to be coming together as a team, with the offense scoring 92 points in the last two games and the defense only allowing one touchdown in five games.
The Sentinels were given the honor to become Escorts for the Cheer Competition to be held at Eddie West Stadium in Santa Ana. The Players will be staying overnight at a local hotel. Parents can pick up their children on Sunday evening around 7:00PM at Sentinel Field.
Next week the Sentinels have a bye week, practice times will remain the same.

Defense Rises to the Occasion with a 18-0 Victory

|
The Doggs were released again and came through with flying colors, leading the Sentinels(6-0, 3-0) to their sixth straight victory, 18-0. After the Steelers(3-3,2-1) intial drive resulted in two first downs, SS Larry Woods led the way and squashed Cerritos chances of remaining undefeated in league play. With three straight solid tackles for loses, the Sentinels took over possession.
The 'Badd Boys' recovered three fumbles, including a fumble in the endzone for a touchdown by Enous O'Neal and one by Bryan Shorter on the 1 yard line that led to a touchdown. The defense allowed only fourteen total yards for the game and two first downs.
The offense came out a little flat after a Bye week, but Brian Flowers scored two touchdowns to keep the Sentinels in the hunt for the Atlantic League Title.
Next on the schedule is a visit to the Compton Titans(5-1). Game time is 7:00PM, Players are to report at 4:00pm, the Team Bus will leave at 5:00PM.

Remember the Titans? They Lost to the Sentinels, 34-8
As the Sentinels road show continued this week it was on to Compton High to square off against powerful Titans. The questions were present, could the Sentinels Defense slow down the Titans explosive offense? Could the Sentinels remain undefeated? And the all important one, Who Let the Doggs out?
These questions and more were answered Saturday night as the "Dogg Defense" gave up two first downs and held the third opponent this year to minus yards (-17). They walked away with a easy 34-8 victory over Compton(5-2,2-2).
The Sentinels(7-0,4-0) kicked off to open the game and held the Titans to three plays and a punt. Laronzo Bursey scored the first touchdown of the evening when he cross the goal line from four yards away for a 6-0 lead.
In the second quarter Matthew Simon scored the first of his three touchdowns on the night as he caught a seven yard strike from QB Andrew Simpson, who also added the extra-point for a 14-0 advantage.
The Doggs were unleashed as they chased down the Titans running back causing him to fumble away the ball. Alertly CB Matthew Simon picked up the loose ball and made several spectacular moves and scored from eighteen yards away to increase the lead to 20-0.
Another defensive stand led to an errant pass being intercepted by FS Teray Jones. Quickly the Sentinels capitalized as Matthew Simon went forty four yards on the next play to blow the game wide open 26-0
Compton's only score came as a Titan receiver lay out and made a fantastic catch in the endzone and they added the extra-point for 26-8 score. That was the first extra-point that the 'Badd Boys' have allowed this season.
After much to do about "Choppin' Wood", the Defense shut them out in the second half and the Titans retired into the night as Anthony Bell put a final seal on the game with a fourteen yard run up the middle of the Titans defense for a touchdown.
With the lost it drops Compton into a third place tie with the Cerritos Steelers(3-4,2-2), who lost to Norwalk 8-14, in the Atlantic League. This means the Sentinels will face the Norwalk Saints next week, the outcome will determine bragging rights and the 2000 Atlantic League Title.
So make plans to attend in full force and show your love and support for this team as they try to remain unbeaten and add another Title to the Trophy Case. Players are to report to Sentinel Field at 4:00PM, the Team Bus will leave at 4:45PM, Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00PM at Jersey Park 9730 Pioneer Bl. in Santa Fe Springs.

The Saints Go Marching Out, 20-6
After all the trash talking all season long, since the pre-season scrimmage who had the better team, the battle of unbeaten League rivals almost never took place. With a window of three minutes the Big Game almost became a forfeit victory for Norwalk. By Confernce rules you must weigh-in no later than fifteen minutes prior to your kickoff time.
A giant thanks goes out to Coach Tim Taylor as he commadeered a Inglewood Unified school bus for the Sentinels to use as their bus never arrived at the field. With great handling by Orange County Reps we were able to line up and make it through equipment inspection and weigh-ins and the game was on.
The Saints lined up against a very determined Sentinel team, after learning earlier that two of their starting linebackers were reduced to spectators. Wasting little time the 'Badd Boys' attacked on the first play from scrimmage as CB Matthew Simon came up and delivered a punishing hit and knocked out RB Steven Moran for the game. "The House of Pain" This set the tone for the game that the Sentinels plan to lay stake to the title tonight. The 'Badd Boys' stopped the Saints(6-2,4-1) with three plays and a punt. D'Andre Hall drop back in punt return formation as the punt went off the side of the Saint's kicker, Hall scooped up the ball and returned untouched 25 yards to the endzone for a quick 6-0 advantage.
In the second quarter the defense forced Norwalk to turnover the ball as FS Laronzo Bursey recovered a fumble deep in Saints territory. QB Larry Woods stepped in and fire a perfect 16 yard spiral to TE Chet Sanders, who was able to get one foot down deep in the back of the endzone for a 12-0 lead.
Then little yellow hankies kept finding their way on the ground as the referees made somewhat suspect calls giving the Saints repeated opportunities to score just before halftime. But the 'Badd Boys' stood tall and stopped the Saints on five plays inside the ten yard line.
The first series on offense in the second half for Norwalk proved futile as three plays and a punt, but the punt never happened as DT Bryan Shorter burst through the line and blocked the punt and was able to recover it for the Sentinels.
FB Derrick Wilson took the ball on a three yard run around the right side to score a touchdown and made Norwalk realize that the 18-0 lead was insurmountable.
As the Sentinels empty the bench in the fourth quarter the Saints scored on a desparation sixty-five yard pass to make the final score 18-6.
The Sentinels(8-0,5-0) finish the regular season undefeated and are the 2000 Atlantic League Champions. I guess it was only fitting that the Sentinels started their season with a pre-season scrimmage against the Saints here at Jersey Park and finish out winning the League Title on this field. All the long bus rides and strange fields that had to be endured, we have become a stronger team. Matter of fact we played more games at Jersey Park than at our own Field.
The victory will guarantee the Sentinels a Bye next week as the Playoffs begin. Thirteen Teams one Dream. The Sentinels will host a Cookout for the newly crowned champions next Saturday Nov. 11th at noon @ Sentinel Field. We will meet at the south end of the Stadium, we will have private parking and entrance for the team. Contact the Team Mom Vicki Bursey for info.
We will open the Playoffs on Saturday Nov. 18th against the winner of the Cerritos/South Bay game at 9:00AM at Rowland High in Rowland Heights.

Sentinels Advance to NFL Title Game
The Sentinels arrived at Sentinel Field before sunrise and began their journey on the road to the Championship. Our opening round game is scheduled for 9:00AM at Rowland High to face the Cerritos Steelers.
The first half was a battle of wills as each team moved slowly up and down the field. Players on both sides really showed that it was too early for the Midget Division game as the Sentinels went in with a slim 14-6 at half.
The Sentinels took heed to the warning by the Staff that either you win or you go home. The Sentinels stepped up and responded with a 44-6 victory to step over the Steelers to the NFL Divisional Championship game next week.
The 30 points in the second half and shutting down the Steelers offense help to send Cerritos home for the year. Veteran Sentinels players QB Larry Woods and RB Brian Flowers stepped up and showed leadership. Flowers put the team on his shoulders as he scored three touchdowns. Veteran WR Matthew Simon and FB Enous O'Neal scored as well to show 'No Mercy' and to remove all doubt.
Now we have the good fortune of playing for the right to go to the Big Dance at are own home field. Sweet.

Sentinel Send Saints Marching Home, 30-6
The Sentinels(10-0) took the field at home for only the second time this season and proclaim we are the best in the NFL by downsizing the Saints(7-3) and sending them home with a 30-6 spanking. The Sentinels will return to the Super Bowl to defend their Title.
The 'Badd Boys' did their usual fine job by shutting out the Saints, which scored their only touchdown on a interception return. The Sentinels were in control from the start as three plays and punt gave the offense great field position and QB Larry Woods hit TE Chet Sanders with a 1 yard toss and a 6-0 lead.
The Defense played big as they recovered a fumble that set up a quick score. QB Larry Woods hit Chet Sanders on a 29 yard touchdown strike for a 12-0 lead heading into halftime.
On the first play of the second half RB Brian Flowers maneuvered his way 67 yards to score a touchdown. With nothing working on offense for Norwalk turned to its defense for their only score, a 60 yard intertception return.
The Sentinels offense seemed to stall on the next series as they lined up to punt on fourth down, Matthew Simon called a audible and hit Chet Sanders with a short pass that Sanders turned into his third touchdown on the night, a 83 yard jaunt to the endzone for a 24-6 advantage.
In the fourth quarter Matthew Simon took the handoff and dashed down the sideline enroute to a 65 yard touchdown run to finish out the scoring for the night.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE PLAYERS AND STAFF FOR A FINE AND DEDICATED SEASON ABOVE ALL ODDS AND REMAINING UNDEFEATED.

Perfection Is Never Easy
 | | |
Mission Viejo (AP) - With the clock showing zeros and his final championship secure at last, Coach T. pulled off his cap and wiped his brow.
He had a right to feel relieved. Perfection is never easy.
Inglewood, led by Larry Woods and Brian Flowers, gave its retiring coach his third undefeated season with a 24-3 victory over previous unbeaten Garden Grove Panthers in the 43rd Annual Orange County Super Bowl.
"This team was never supposed to do it, but they did it,". "You can bet your life it was hard to go back 2 back."
"I'm as glad for my guys that we were able to share it together," Coach T. said Saturday night. "It's a milestone to retire as an Undefeated Champion.
At 10:17pm Saturday December 2, 2000 the Sentinels accomplished their quest of winning Back to Back Super Bowl titles by a resounding 24-3 victory over the previously unbeaten Garden Grove Panthers to finish a perfect Season of 11-0-0.
The Sentinels struck first as on the first play of the second quarter QB Larry Woods step back and hit TE Chet Sanders with a pass across the middle that turned into a 88 yard touchdown making the score 6-0.
Late in the period the Panthers took advantage of a Sentinel turnover and scored, what turned out to be their only points, as they converted a 27 yard field goal.
The Sentinel defense, which allowed ony four touchdowns all year, came up large when CB D'Andre Hall picked off a pass and returned it 70 yards to set up the next score. RB Brian Flowers took a hand off and burst up the middle of the Panthers defense for a 5 yard touchdown, making the score 12-3 with 4:13 left in the quarter.
In the final period SS Larry Woods picked off a pass at the 40 yard line to halt yet another drive by the once powerful Panthers. Frustration set in for Garden Grove as the were hit with two unsportsmanship penalties on their defense, the final one resulting in a player being ejected. This set the stage for the Sentinels to score quickly as Brian Flowers took the handoff and went right made a few moves and pancaked the final player in his way to score a 14 yard touchdown,as the lead was extended to 18-3.
With 3:15 left in the game Garden Grove, hoping to erase their failure of losing the previous year's Super Bowl, tried to go deep in desparation only to find the Sentinel's secondary up for the challenge. SS Larry Woods lined up in a cover two defense and was ready as the Panthers went across the middle and he layed the "Wood" on the receiver. That dropped him along with the Panthers hopes of winning the game.
After four straight deep incomplete passes, the Sentinels took over on downs. On the next play returning Sentinel WR Matthew Simon took a reverse 52 yards to the House sealing Garden Grove's worst nightmare.
Congratulations to all the Players, Cheerleaders, Staff and Parents for your support of a very special season in history. This was the tenth Super Bowl title for the Sentinels and the final game in Inglewood for Head Coach T., as he announced his retirement before the season.
The Back 2 Back titles was the first for the Sentinels since the 1978-1979 seasons.
