Barrington, R.I. scores early, holds on for 3-1 win over Weston, Mass. at Senior Little League Eastern Regional
WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. – Barrington, R.I. scored three first-inning runs and Brian Cook made the most of them in a four-hit complete game effort to eliminate Weston, Mass., 3-1, at the Senior Little League Eastern Regional on Tuesday.
Barrington had just two hits on the game as Weston reliever Robert Charpie retired all 14 batters he faced after entering the game in the second inning. In fact, Barrington didn’t even leave anyone on base in the game. But Cook allowed just one run and walked only two in a 79-pitch effort to stave off elimination.
Barrington got an RBI double by Brendan McNaught and an RBI single from Cook to plate two of the three first-inning runs. Weston got one back in the third on an RBI single by Nick Neu, but that was all of the scoring for the afternoon.
Barrington will face Naamans Little League of Wilmington, Del. in a 5 p.m. elimination game Wednesday. The winner of that will take on Suffern, N.Y. at 8 p.m. in another elimination game, looking to gain a spot in Thursday’s championship round. Naamans held on for a 7-6 win over St. Mary’s, Pa. in an earlier game on Tuesday.
