Kulbaba’s two-hitter leads Suffern, N.Y. past Barrington, R.I., 4-1 at Senior Little League Eastern Regional
WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. – Dominick Kulbaba fired a two-hitter to lead Suffern, N.Y. past Barrington, R.I., 4-1, in a winner’s bracket game Monday morning at the Senior Little League Baseball Eastern Regional.
Kulbaba took a no-hitter into the fifth and struck out six in an 88-pitch complete game effort. Franco DiRe celebrated his birthday by breaking up the no-no to lead off the fifth. His pinch-runner Jeff Craven came around to score in that inning, but that was the only offense of the day for Barrington.
Danny Ortiz accounted for three of the four Suffern runs with a pair of doubles. Whitey Hayward also had two hits for Suffern, which advanced to Tuesday afternoon’s winner’s bracket final against either St. Mary’s, Pa. or South Vineland, N.J.
Barrington will play in an elimination game at 8 pm Monday.
