2009 Regional - Game 8

Brooklyn-Killingly, Conn. eliminated Calais, Maine, 2-1, at Senior Little League Eastern Reigonal

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. – Kevin Bonitz allowed just five hits and struck out six to make two first-inning runs stand up as Brooklyn-Killingly, Conn. eliminated Calais, Maine, 2-1, in Senior Little League Baseball Eastern Regional action on Sunday night.

The game was called because of rain in the bottom of the seventh inning with the Connecticut champions winning, 4-1, with two outs. Under Little League rules, the game reverts back to the last full inning with stats eliminated, but pitch counts stand.

Calais pulled to within a run in the third with an unearned run and had several chances after that. They left two runners on in the fourth and left the bases loaded in the sixth.

Joseph Mitchell has two hits for Calais, Maine. Timothy Barnes was the tough-luck loser with six strikeouts and just one earned run allowed in six innings of work. He scattered seven hits in a losing effort, allowing just three hits after the first.

Brooklyn-Killingly will face Weston, Mass. in an 8 p.m. elimination game.
