2008 Senior Little League Baseball Eastern Regional – Game 9 WEST DEPTFORD, NJ – Frank Backer and Dan Ginader both went 3-for-4 to pace a 15-hit attack as Wappinger, NY topped Gloucester, MA, 12-4, in an elimination game Sunday afternoon at the Senior Little League Baseball Eastern Regional. Backer had three RBI as Wappinger erased an early 4-2 deficit with two runs in the second, three in the fourth and five more in the seventh. They took advantage of eight errors by Gloucester to advance to a Monday 10 am matchup with Killingly-Brooklyn, CT in another elimination bracket contest. Trevor Curley had three hits to lead Gloucester. Gilbert Brown’s two-run double was the big blow in Gloucester’s four-run first that erased the two-run lead that Wappinger jumped out to in the top half of the inning. Wayne Avery pitched the first five innings to earn the win for Wappinger. After allowing the four runs in the first inning, he settled in to allow just three hits the rest of the way. Rob Soljusiak pitched the final two innings to earn his first save of the regional.
