Tuesday, August 8 2006 Regional - Game 18 WEST DEPTFORD, NJ – Camden-Wyoming, DE seemingly took advantage of every base hit – and every Montoursville, PA miscue – to stay alive in the elimination bracket with a 9-1 win Tuesday evening at the 2006 Senior Little League Baseball Eastern Regional. Camden-Wyoming, DE will face Auburn, MA Wednesday at 5 pm in another elimination game. Camden-Wyoming defeated Auburn on the opening day of the regional, 16-0, but Auburn has won three straight in the elimination bracket since. The winner of that game will have to play again at 8 pm on Wednesday night. The loser of Tuesday’s final game between Bloomfield, NJ and West Deptford, NJ will be the opponent in Wednesday’s late game. Montoursville, who lost a game that was suspended from last night earlier in the day against Bloomfield, NJ, was eliminated from the regional. The Pennsylvania champs never seemed to get on track. In the bottom of the first, they loaded the bases to open the inning on a walk and singles by Mike Hanner and Chad Jacobson. But after a fly out to left Camden-Wyoming’s Ryan Contino cut down a would-be run at the plate with a bullet to catcher Alex Jones for the second out of the inning. Two batters later, Vincent Molesky fouled out to third to end the threat. After that, Montoursville struggled to bunch anything together. In the fourth, after a strikeout opened the inning, Molesky walked and Ryan Welker was hit by a pitch. Pinch-hitter Kyle Kremser followed with a double to score Molesky and move Welker to third. But again, Montoursville couldn’t come up with anything else. Meanwhile, Camden-Wyoming took advantage of every opportunity it got. The Delaware representatives scored twice in the second inning, the first of which on a key hustle play. With runners at first and second, Contino laid down a sac bunt to move the runners over. Seeing both the catcher and pitcher not paying attention to the plate, Alex Jones raced around to score from second with the game’s first run. Pinch-hitter Jeffrey Gravatt followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0. Contino later drove in Jones with an RBI single to make it 3-0 in the top of the fourth before Montoursville got on the board in the bottom of the fourth to cut it to 3-1. But Camden-Wyoming would add three more runs in the fifth, all of them scoring on two Montoursville errors, and three more in the seventh to pad the lead. That was more than enough for Mario Orlando. Pitching on three days rest after his near perfect game on Friday night, Orlando wasn’t as near perfect, but he was more than adequate. He allowed seven hits and just one earned run in earning his second win of the regional. He walked five and struck out three. John Lust had three hits and Will Ross and Eric Long each had two hits for Camden-Wyoming.
