Sunday, August 6 2006 Regional - Game 9 WEST DEPTFORD, NJ – Jimmy Brittingham homered twice to give himself all the help he would need as Camden-Wyoming, DE coasted past West Nyack, NY, 16-2, in an elimination bracket game Sunday at the 2006 Senior Little League Baseball Eastern Regional. Brittingham went 3-for-3 at the plate with four runs scored and six RBI. In 16 years of regional play at West Deptford, Brittingham is the ninth player to hit two home runs in a game. The occasion, which has happened 10 times since 1991 as Shippensburg, PA’s David Orndorff did it twice in successive years, happened for just the fourth time in consecutive at-bats and just three time in consecutive innings at the West Deptford Regional. It is the second time it has happened on Union Field as two of the occasions happened on the shorter, more home run friendly Bob Oldt Field at the West Deptford complex. Ironically, one of the people on that list is Joe Zeccardi of West Nyack, NY, who did it the last time West Nyack was in the regional in 1992. Brittingham pitched the first 3-1/3 innings before being lifted with a 14-run lead. He was not credited with the win officially because he did not go four full innings. He walked five, including three in the fourth inning before coming out of the game. Camden-Wyoming will take on Johnston, RI in another elimination bracket contest Monday at 1 pm. West Nyack, NY was eliminated from the double-elimination regional. After falling behind early in its loss on Saturday night, Camden-Wyoming jumped out early on Sunday, batting through the line-up to post a five-spot in the top of the first. John Lust, who was hitless in five at-bats in the first two games, plated the first two runs with a double off of the center field wall. Eric Long followed two batters later with a three-run homer to left to give the Delaware representatives an early 5-0 advantage. West Nyack got one of those runs back in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Paul Brancatelli. But Camden-Wyoming posted two in the second and two more in the third, the latter coming on a Brittingham two-run home run to left-center. Brittingham later smacked a grand slam as part of a seven-run fourth that saw 13 batters come to the plate.
