WEST DEPTFORD, NJ - Alex Dalsey fired six strong innings to pick up his first win of the regional as West Deptford, NJ advanced in the elimination bracket with a 6-3 win over Oil City, PA in Game 17 of the 2003 Senior Little League Eastern Regional.
The game was halted twice for rain, a 13-minute delay in the third inning and a 3-hour, 23-minute delay in the fourth inning.
Dalsey retired the first 12 batters he faced after relieving Frank Mullins, who pitched the first inning. Dalsey allowed just one hit and one walk in his six innings of work, as he struck out eight. The lone hit came in the seventh inning when Geoff Flowers hit a dribbler up the middle that drove in two runs.
West Deptford scored three runs in the second inning and three more coming out of the long rain delay in the bottom of the fourth, taking advantage of two Oil City errors.
West Deptford will face either Auburn, ME or Max Sinoway LL of North Haven, CT at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuesdays game times have been moved up due to impending weather problems.
