SEMI-PRO CHEERLEADING HQ
A web site dedicated to the cheerleaders of semi-professional organizations, both at the league and team levels
WHAT IS SEMI-PRO?
Semi-professional is a cross between the adult Y-Center type leagues and the professional level leagues.
Everybody involved retains their amateur status, with little to no pay being received. Everybody is involved purely for the love of the game. From this aspect it is not any different than the Y-Center or city recreation type leagues. IT IS A HOBBY!
Talent level is generally equivilant of that found at the NCAA Division-III or Division-II level. Most are simply trying to remain involved with the game they love. Many hope to get noticed and move on to the professional level, both in the game and behind the scenes. Occassionally some have participated professionally.
While a hobby, even for ownership, each franchise is a legally registered business that is owned and operated seperate from their league.
The estimated cost of doing business for a semi-pro organization is $50,000-$75,000 per year.
To offset the costs of doing business each franchise will put on fundraisers, attract fans to their games, sell tickets for admission, sell advertising & sponsorship options, sell game programs, sell souveirs, sell 50/50 tickets, etc.. From this aspect it is no different than the professional level.
ALL semi-pro sports franchise organizations are non-profit organizations (not necessarily 501-C-3) and donate all profits to area charities.
