Seattle Rainz: Q&A
General Rainz Q&A
1. What seasons does Rainz have teams?
Rainz currently 3 seasons: Summer (June-August), Fall (October - December), and Winter (January - February).
2. What types of teams does Rainz offer?
Rainz has two divisions, a middle school division and a high school division. The types of teams offered in each division are different for each season.
3. What is the difference between the types of teams offered?
The travel teams are varsity level teams for each division focused on improving players individual and team skills through team practices, tournaments, and games. Players wishing to be a part of this team will be required to try-out and meet all team requirements. All players participating on travel teams must commit to attending at least 80% of all practices, must be available for all tournaments and games, and must have at least one year of playing experience. The focus of the coaching staff is to teach a more progressive style of play that will prepare athletes for higher levels of competition.
The scrimmage teams offer an opportunity to continue to grow and play lacrosse to those athletes that may not be able to meet the travel team requirements (such as attendance conflicts). Both the middle school and high school scrimmage teams will participate in practices, team scrimmages and games, and optional local tournaments. The coaching staff will teach individual and team lacrosse skills with a focus on developing each player’s ability to be innovative on the field and to use universal lacrosse skills to master the game. Summer scrimmage teams are non-cut teams; however the coaching staff will be holding an assessment day to help determine the level of play on each team and better prepare a coaching curriculum for the season. Our fall and winter teams cap at 18 players a team.
4. Who can play?
Players from all areas and all levels of play are welcome to join Rainz. We currently offer teams for 6th-8th graders (Middle School division) and 9th – 12th graders (High School division).

This fee covers fields, coaches and staff, equipment, and a practice short and reversible. The try-out fee is only charged to those wishing to try-out for our travel teams. The fee covers extra coaching staff for tryouts and administrative costs. The tournament fees cover entrance costs for the team (fields, refs, equipment, ect.), travel expenses such as air-fare and van rental, hotel costs, administrative fees, coaches, and sometimes food.
9. Can I play in a tournament as a guest if I’m not on a Rainz team?
Rainz accepts guest players for tournaments in fall and winter as well as for tournaments the summer scrimmage teams participate in. If you are interested in guesting on a Rainz tournament team please contact Jaime Webster at J_Webster@mac.com.
