South Durham Little League: Spring 2013 Divisions

Select Season:  
AA
(Machine Pitch) – This is an instructional division for our younger and less experienced players and those players progressing up from t-ball or playing baseball for the first time.   6 year olds who have played a Spring season of T-Ball with South Durham Little League or another officially recognized league are eligible to attend a skills evaluation session to determine if they are ready to play in this league.    There is no leading off or stealing and all players bat and play in the line-up. Coaches will play the players in all positions they can safely play in and focus on the fundamentals of baseball. There is a 3 out or 5 run/inning limit. Scores and standings are kept and there is an End of Season Tournament. Competitive.

AAA American
(Player Pitch) – This is the introductory level of player pitch for our younger players. Players in this division typically have some previous experience playing baseball, but are just learning to pitch and to hit player pitch or have limited player pitch experience. All players bat in the line-up the entire game. Coaches will rotate the players through infield and outfield positions. There is no leading off and stealing is introduced at some point in the season. There is a 3 out or 5 run/inning limit. Scores and standings are kept and there is an End of Season Tournament. Competitive.

AAA National
(Player Pitch) – This division is for players experienced in player pitch. Focus is placed on preparing these players to play in the Majors division. There is no leading off and stealing is permitted. All players bat in the line-up the entire game.   Players are rotated through infield and outfield positions.    There is a 3 out or 5 run/inning limit. Scores and standings are kept and there is an End of Season Tournament. Competitive.

T-ball (Modified Coach Pitch)
For players age 4 – 6.   This division is completely instructional and intended to be fun and to introduce players to the game of baseball.   Coach pitch is used for the first few pitches in an at bat followed by swings off the tee if needed. All players play in the field every defensive inning and bat in the line-up. Coaches play the players in both the infield and the outfield in the positions they can safely play. No scores or standings are kept for this division.

Majors
(Player Pitch) – This division is competitive. Players are experienced and have typically played multiple years of baseball. Very few 10 year olds are advanced enough to play in the Majors. Emphasis is on the refinement of skills and advanced strategies. There is no leading off, but stealing is permitted. All players bat in the line-up the entire game and rotate through appropriate infield and outfield positions. All players league age 12 must play in this division. Scores and standings are kept and there is an End of Season Tournament.

Juniors
Juniors is for players who will be at least 13 but not older than 14 as of April 30 of the current season. Juniors play 60/90. Very competitive. Juniors season starts in May and concludes late June.

Seniors
Seniors is for players who will be at least 15 but not older than 16 as of April 30 of the current season. Seniors play 60/90. Very competitive. Seniors season starts in May and ends late June.
