What is The Georgia SD Lady Eagles Basketball Club?
It is a successful Girls AAU Basketball Club and has been in existence for over 5 years. The Georgia SD Lady Eagles Basketball Club is a travel team that provides female athletes primarily residing in Metro Atlanta, Georgia and surrounding counties a chance to improve their basketball skills while enhancing social skills such as teamwork, dedication, and discipline.
How does my daughter get on a Lady Eagles team?
Register and come to the tryouts. We have open tryouts in late January. This program is not for recreational purposes. It is designed for girls who have a desire to play competitive basketball. No player is guaranteed a spot on a team. She is encouraged to make all the tryouts so that the coaches can evaluate her fairly.
How is the age group determined?
The age as of December 31st, 2004 is the age group for that player.
When are tournaments?
Tournaments are always on the weekend. Depending on the number of teams participating in the tournament, games can start as early as Thursday. Tournaments are hosted across Georgia, and some are in surrounding states. Games may also start as early as 6:00pm. On occasion, special arrangements need to be made to get the players to games on time.
What is involved in the commitment to a Lady Eagles team?
It is expected that a player will make all the games and practices. There are always conflicts but absences disrupt the team and are unfair to the players
coaches and teammates. Communication with the coaches is crucial about these items. A player has to be able to make the State Qualifier tournament.
What about the time involved?
There are at least two to three practices during the week from February through June. Teams will play in 6 to 10 tournaments on weekends.
Is there fundraising to help reduce player cost?
Each team does its own fundraising and that and some other functions are coordinated by the Organization.
How are the registration fees used?
About 80% goes to tournament fees and gym rentals for practice and the remaining goes to insurance, coaches' expenses, tryout costs, and equipment.
