Jones to Represent Baltimore in All-Star Game
Former San Diego Gamer and current Baltimore Orioles centerfielder Adam Jones (2001-2003, Morse HS) has been selected to represent the Orioles in the 2009 All-Star game in St. Louis July 14th.

Barden in Beijing
|
Former San Diego Gamer Brian Barden (1998-99 St. Augustine/Oregon State) is member of the USA Baseball Team participating in the Olympics in Beijing. In game 1 vs. Korea, Barden was 3-4 in his Olympic debut. Brian is currently a member of the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds.

Snyder is WCC Player of the Month
|
Former San Diego Gamer Justin Snyder has been named WCC Player of the Month for the #9 ranked USD Toreros.
The Torero second baseman pounded out 28 hits in 15 games to lead USD, clubbing seven doubles and a home run to go along with 14 RBI on the month. In a three-game sweep of Saint Mary's in early April, the El Cajon, Calif. native batted a phenomenal .692 (9-for-13) with four doubles as the Toreros began a 12-game winning streak in WCC contests.

Former Gamer John Basnight (2005-2006) has made the roster for the Cal State Fullerton Titans. Basnight, a freshman has made the squad as a pitcher. Congratulations and good luck John.

Boman signs with Angels

Former Gamer and University of San Diego and Patrick Henry standout Nate Boman (2002-2003) signed a professional contract with the Angels on Thursday. Boman was drafted in the 9th round of this years June draft and he will begin instructional league before the end of the month. Congratulations Nate.

Kevin Wilson Headed to Cal State San Bernadino

Kevin Wilson (2002-2004) will continue his college career pitching for Cal State San Bernadino this fall. Wilson spent his first two years with Palomar College in San Marcos. Congratulations Kevin.

Former Gamers are All-Stars in the Cape
|
Two former Gamers were named to Cape Cod All-Star teams. University of San Diego's Nate Boman (2002-2003) and Justin Snyder (2002-2004) were named to Cape Cod's All-Star team this summer. Boman, who was a ninth round selection in the 2006 MLB draft by the Los Angels Angeles of Anaheim, has posted a record of 2-1 with an ERA of 1.54 while playing for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox thus far in the summer league. Boman sat out all of USD's 2006 season with a medical redshirt. Snyder, a 2006 All-WCC honorable mention, is hitting .248 with two home runs and 10 RBI while playing for the Brewster Whitecaps thus far in the summer league. This past season, Snyder hit .301 with 66 hits, 14 doubles, three home runs and 33 RBI to help lead the Toreros to an NCAA Tournament berth.

Tony Gwynn Jr. makes Big League Debut
Tony Gwynn Jr. (1999-2000) was called up to the big leagues on Saturday by the Milwaukee Brewers. He had one at bat vs. the Arizona Diamondback and went 0-1. Congratulations Tony!!

Adam Jones makes MLB debut
Former Gamer Adam Jones made his Major League Baseball debut this weekend. Jones (2000-2002) made is debut Friday evening as the staring centerfielder for the Seattle Mariner's against the Toronto Blue Jays. He went o-3 with a walk in his debut. Congratulations Adam!!

Justin Baum named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team
Former Gamer and Current University of Pacific Tiger, Justin Baum (2001-2004) was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team. Baum was also named Freshman of the Year in the Big West Conference and a first team selection as well, Baum belted 17 homers and 15 doubles as he hit .332 with 45 RBI. He ranked 20th in the NCAA statistics in home runs per game and 22nd in slugging percentage.

Current San Diego Gamer Eddie Young (Jr., Christian HS) has given a verbal commitment to coach Doug Smith and the Highlanders of UC Riverside to play baseball for them in the fall of 2008. Eddie will be heading to UCR as a middle infielder and is following in the footsteps of two of his uncles who also played at UCR. The Highlanders are a member of the Big West Conference. San Diego Gamer Brian Humphries (Jr. OF, Granite Hills HS) has accepted a baseball scholarship to play for coach Steve Rodriguez and the Pepperdine University Waves of the WCC. Humphries was a member of the Granite Hills Eagles team that won the CIF Division 1 Championship this year.

Morton Commits to Stanford
San Diego Gamer Kevin Morton (El Capitan HS, RHP) has signed with Stanford University to play for coach Mark Marquess in the fall of 2008.
Morton, selected the Cardinal over such schools as Harvard, Oregon, Cal State-Fullerton, Loyola-Marymount and Indiana University.
Kevin is an honor student with a 4.5 grade-point average.

Koons Named MVP of Lions Tournament
Trevor Koons (2009, Vista HS) was named MVP of the Lions Tournament Premier Division. The Panthers defeated Easlake HS in the championship game. Congratulations Trevor.

Jimmy Allen - Rancho Buena Vista
Allen was 10-for-12 at the plate, hitting three home runs in a game against Mt. Carmel that included a grand slam. The junior finished the week with 10 RBI for the No. 6-ranked Longhorns. Jordan McLaughlin
Jordan McLaughlin - St. Augustine
The Saints junior tossed a no-hitter against Kearny, leading St. Augustine to a 5-0 nonleague triumph. McLaughlin struck out nine to earn his first victory of the season.
