The SCSA Futsal League kicks off on December 6th

All games will be played at Nothin But Net

 Age groups:  Boys and Girls 

                     U9 - U14 and U15 - U18 (High School A and B Brackets)
                     U14 and High School,  will play on Monday and Wednesday nights the same weeks

Times:  Sunday games will played on the hour starting at 8:00 AM with the last game at 1:00 PM
             Monday and Wednesday games will begin at 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM

Format:   5 v 5, 4 field players and 1 Keeper - You can Sub on the Fly

Game Length:  2-24 minute half's, Running clock each half, 2 minute half time

                        Each team is allowed 1 one minute time out per half

                        Home team supplies the game ball (A Futsal ball is required)

Cost: $600 per team - Includes Ref Fees

In addition to the acceptance to our league all registered players will receive membership to the United States Futsal Federation (USFF) which will ensure that all registered players and coaches will have necessary liability coverage. This will also permit teams to travel to other Futsal tournaments and Regional events. This fee per player will be included in your teams’ entry fee.

What is futsal?  Futsal is a modified version of soccer played in a 5v5 format on an indoor court the size of a basketball court.  Games are often played on basketball courts. The game is played within the marked boundary lines of the court with no walls. The futsal ball is smaller and slightly heavier with less bounce then an outdoor ball. Players play in basketball shoes or specially designed futsal shoes. Rules are basically the same as outdoor soccer with some deviations to account for the smaller space and an emphasis on less physical play.

Why Futsal?   A small field with lines puts players constantly under pressure from other players and out-of-play boundaries. Players must learn to settle the ball rapidly, turn sharply, shield effectively, pass quickly and move into open space. Compared to walled soccer or large indoor field soccer, Futsal places a greater premium on ball control. There is no reward for errant passes because the other team gets the ball. There is no incentive to 'kick and run' because the field is too small and packed with players. Players with the ball must use proper technique to maintain control and must seek out other players in space. Players without the ball must move to 'real' space and must truly support their teammates.  Many of the best soccer players from Brazil credit Futsal for much of their skill and technique development.
