Jim Bradley Minister of Tourism & Recreation, MPP for St. Catharines, joined OTF representative Adele Tanguay in congratulating the St. Catharines Ringette Association at the Haig Bowl Arena ceremony. This grant is an investment in our communitys Recreation for young girls, said Mr. Bradley. Im delighted to see girls active in a sport that has been in the City of St. Catharines for nearly 30 years.
Established in 1977, the St. Catharines Ringette Association has developed into a thriving centre. In the prime years of Ringette, St. Catharines developed house leagues consisting of several teams in each division up to Belle. Today SCRA has competitive teams from Bunny to Junior that play out of Haig Bowl Arena. Most teams practice one day a week, and have games every weekend.
We are using this grant purchase new goalie equipment, first aid equipment and to provide skill development for the goalies, players and coaches too. The grant will also help market and grow the sport of Ringette in St. Catharines, said President Steve Goertz. We are thankful for the Ontario Trillium Foundations commitment to invest in recreational sports for girls in St. Catharines.
