Below is an explanation of the scholastic awards given throughout our league. 

 

Justin L. Little Memorial Award 

Justin Little had participated in the Smyrna Clayton Pee Wee & Midget Divisions and made a lasting impression on all who knew him.  This award has been given out since 1994 in Justin's memory.  Each year one player is chosen by his coach for this special award because he showed effort, sportmanship and team enthusiasm both on and off the field.

Casey Lynch Leadership Award
 
The Henlopen Pop Warner Football League awards a Midget Football Player for the Casey Lynch Award. Casey was a 13-year old quarterback of the 1991 Delmar Midget "Wildcats," who died on the Delmar field while playing the Woodbridge "Blue Raiders" with 17 seconds left in a 6-6 tie game. Only 1 Midget player is chosen to receive this award each year in Casey's memory. Every football player in the Henlopen Pop Warner Football League is eligible for this award. Criteria for this award include outstanding leadership on the field, int he classroom and in the community, along with above average grades in all subjects and his respect for his parents, coaches, teachers, classmates, and fellow teammates.

All-American Award Winners

These individuals are students that are in 5th grade and above and maintained a GPA of 96 or higher from the previous year.

 

Carl Walls Award Winners

Pop Warner football and cheerleading is an international program operated for the benefit of youth participants. The program's philosophy has been "Academics and Athletics Go Hand-in-Hand." Academics are the only awards Pop Warner gives out, nationally and regionally, and at our Henlpen level.

The Henlopen League awards the "Carl Walls Award" to all participants who maintained a 93 average or better for the first marking period of the football and cheerleading season.
