Smyrna Clayton Pop Warner PeeWee Cheer                                               July 30, 2009************************************************************************

Hello!  We are glad that your daughter will be participating in Henlopen Pop Warner Little Scholars for the 2009 season as a PeeWee Cheerleader for the Smyrna Clayton Eagles. We are so excited for the upcoming season! We are very fortunate to have a lot of girls returning, and a few fresh faces.  During our practices we will be learning many cheers and stunts, as well as getting ready for competition.  We want all of the children to learn, have fun, and develop good sportsmanship. It is so important that all parents follow the guidelines as well; after all we are the ones setting the examples! We ask that the parents support all coaching staff for cheer and football as they are all volunteering their time.

 Practices
  • For the first two weeks, practices will be held five times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) from 5:30 to 7:30p.m.  Starting on August 17th we will practice three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). Times are subject to change.  We will let you know ahead of time.
  • All practices will be held at Municipal Park to the right of the baseball field.
  • We will be having closed practices, which mean we would prefer that you not stay.  Instead we would like for you to remain on site for the first 15 minutes for updates.   Please make sure that we have an emergency contact number for you.  DO NOT drop your child off until at least one coach has arrived on site.  We will arrive on time.  Please pick your child up promptly at the end of practice; if possible be there 10 minutes before the end of practice. Should your child be dropped off without a coach present or picked up late repeatedly; she will be removed from the squad.  If you need to make special arrangements, please let us know.
  • In the event of inclement weather, practice may be cancelled or you may be called to pick your child up early from practice.
  • Girls are to wear appropriate athletic clothes (sweats, track pants, shorts (make sure all areas are covered), t-shirts, etc.) and sneakers to all practices.  Hair is to be worn back from the face at all times.  Please do not send your child to practice in school clothes.  If your child wears glasses, they need to be secured with a strap. No jewelry is to be worn at all, and please do not allow your child to come to practice with gum.  If your child is not in the appropriate attire then she will not be able to practice.  If your child comes to practice without the proper attire several times then she will have to sit out of practice and possibly a game.
  • Each child must have 20 hours of conditioning before she can start any stunts or tumbling.  If you arrive at practice before a coach is present, please do not allow your child to stunt or tumble.
  • Make sure that your child comes to practice with plenty of water.
  • Make sure that your child throws away all of their trash.
   Uniforms

The association will provide the cheer uniform and pompoms.  Shoes, socks, briefs, hair bows, and body suits are to be purchased at your expense.  All of your items should have been ordered and hopefully on their way to you!!!!!

Games

Games are held on Saturdays at 3pm. We would like the girls to arrive ready to cheer (full uniform, no warm-ups) at 2:15pm.  This will give us plenty of stretching and warm-up time.  The girls will also need to stay for 10-15mins after our home games to help clean up.  More information will be provided, as we get closer to game days, schedule is subject to change.  For away games, children are permitted to ride the bus with the squad or with you to the game.  Please give us plenty of notice if your child will be riding the bus.  If you are planning on taking your child she must be there at the specified time.   Please make sure to pack drinks and snacks for all games, it may not be possible for the girls to get to the concession stand.  Keep in mind that playoffs start the end of October and continue thru middle of November.  It is imperative that the girl’s season continues as long as the football players!

Competition

Sunday, October 11th

Competition is a very exciting, stressful time for our girls and we need the support of everyone involved. We don’t want the girls to lose sight of our main goal:  FUN!  There are specific guidelines that apply to competition that will be shared at a later time.  It is extremely important that all guidelines are followed.  More information will be provided as we receive it.  If we place at this competition then we will continue on to Qualifiers in New Jersey on October 24th.  If we place at Qualifiers then we advance to Regional’s which will be November 21st also in New Jersey.

General Guidelines
  • Attendance is required at all practices, games, and events unless coaches are given prior notification, with an exception for family emergencies.  We understand that things arise from time to time, we just ask that you notify us in advance of any absence.  Repeated absences without prior notification and/or documentation from a doctor will result in your child being removed from the squad.  If your child cannot stay for the entire practice, please let a coach know that they will be leaving early.
  • Girls are to wear their hair away from their faces and not touching their shoulders for practices, games, and competition.  No jewelry (including recently pierced ears), makeup (other than natural), or nail polish (other than clear) is allowed for practices, games, or competition.  Keep fingernails short.
  • We will not tolerate disrespect in any form!  Whether it is towards the coaches or other girls; we are a team!  We work as a team which means, if one person has a problem we all have the problem!  We appreciate your support!!
  • Any injury/incident must be reported to the coach and the parent must sign an incident form.  A doctor’s note will then be required for the child to return to practice/games.

When guidelines are not followed it not only impacts our cheer squad but the entire Smyrna/Clayton Eagles association.

Our team mom is Karen Rudinoff. Karen will be contacting parents from time to time to help with fundraisers, can day, and staffing the concession stand.  Please help whenever possible in order to make this experience the best that it can be for your child.

Thank you for trusting us with your bundles of joy!!!!  We look forward to an AMAZING SEASON!!!!!!!!
