Testimonial from a mother of a 1st year SGJT Cheerleader:

Dear Coach Beth-
I wanted to share with you how much cheer has positively affected our daughter, Kirsten.  When she told us last spring she wanted to sign up to cheer, I was skeptical that she would maintain interest all the way to August when practices began.  But, she taught herself how to do cartwheels and round-offs all summer, practiced them over and over so she would be ready.  She has always been shy in front of strangers and not especially outgoing and I hoped that cheering would give her a self confidence boost.  We had been through soccer and dance and she just hadn't found anything that was a good fit for her to continue with.  Well, August came and she was so nervous to go to practice.  The first night I had to practically peel her from the car.  I remember after she was done, she was so excited!  She loved cheer, she met so many other girls that she still talks about as friends even though she doesn't see them regularly.  We saw a huge boost in her self confidence and she became more outgoing, she wasn't even nervous to compete!  She even picked "How to be a Cheerleader" for a school project this year!  You and the other coaches put so much into this program, I wanted to thank you for helping Kirsten discover something that she enjoys and for the first time, wants to keep doing as an extracurricular activity.  She can't wait for the season to start and neither can we!  Go Tartans!
