2007 Season

The 2007 season  started off with a few cjanges to the WJFL with Lakewood Jr. Football leaving due to not being competitive. Also WYSA devided into 3 programs as well as mukilteo becoming a individual program.

Stanwood youth Football fielded 5 teams:

1 PeeWee

2 89ers

2 Juniors

1 Senior

The season had many positive moments with a few minor issues. Majority of Stanwood teams were competitive and the Spartan ballplayers had fun. The PeeWee's, both 89ers teams and the Seniors made it to the play-offs with the Seaniors winning the Championship hosted at Stanwood High School.

2006 Season
The 2006 season was a season of firsts.

2006 brought 3 89er teams to Stanwood. A record breaking Car Was fundraiser as well as a few changes to WJFL.

Stanwood Youth Football fielded:
1 PeeWee team
3 89er teams
2 Junior teams
1 Senior team

With the continues success of the Adrenaline Football Camp as well as the SCJAA Speed & Agility Clinic and Spartan non-contact Football Camp, SYF continued to reach out to other communities. SYF Coaches attended PEMCO, Frank Glazier, Kings, & NFL/NFF football Clinics as well as other clinics.

The Spartan Seniors were given the honor to conduct the flag display for the National Anthem at the Seahawks game held at Quest Field. The Seniors also played a scrimmage game with the Everett Eagles on the field before the NFL game.

2005 Season
The 2005 SYF Season started with more growth in the number of teams. In the first time in the history of Stanwood Youth Football the program fielded 2 PeeWee teams. With the 2 PeeWee, 1 89er, 2 Junior and 1 Senior, the SYF program was the largest in the history.

With the success of the Adrenaline Football Camp as well as the SCJAA Speed & Agility Clinic and Spartan non-contact Football Camp, SYF continued to reach out to other communities. SYF Coaches attended PEMCO, Frank Glazier, Kings, & NFL/NFF football Clinics.

The season started August 1st and continued to grow strong. Teams traveled to Puyallup to scrimmage Junior and Senior teams in mid-August. The WJFL jamboree was held at Edmonds-Woodway Stadium on Sunday August 28th.

The season overall was very positive with 3 SYF teams making it to the WJFL Play-offs. The White Junior and the Spartan Senior team both made it to the WJFL Championship game.

WJFL Championships were held at Kings High School with the White Juniors beating the Edmonds Cyclones 13 to 12. The Spartan Senioe beat the MLT Trojans 34 to 16.

2004 Season
The 2004 season held great promise for the Stanwood Spartan Program. We had 4 teams (1 PeeWee, 1 89er, 1 Junior and 1 Senior) with more ballplayers registered than 2003.

Each team was successful during the 2004 season with the 89ers, Juniors and Seniors making it to the play-offs.

With team sizes being an issue the 2005 season will see strict team size caps.

With growth in and around Stanwood the future looks like we may be adding teams. Though the SYF Board knows you cannot stop growth, they do understand that it must be controlled to keep a quality program running.

2003 Season
As Stanwood Youth Football entered it's 2nd season in the WesCo Jr. Football League SYF began to settle into it's new family.

SYF fielded 5 youth football teams. 1 PeeWee (K-2), 1 89er (3-4), 2 Juniors (5-6) and 1 Senior team (7-8).

The SYF program added new pop-up blocking dummies as well as lineman chutes. SYF also changed it's jersey to a "Denver" style red with white stripes football jersey.

As the season concluded November 8 with Stanwood hosting the 2003 WesCo Champions, the Spartan 89er's beat the Edmond Cyclones for the 89er Championships and the Red Juniors beat the MLT Trojans for the Junior Championships.

4 of the 5 Stanwood teams made the play-offs with 2 winning the Championships. SYF also seen the last cliques leave the program as Stanwood Youth Football continued it's work to make youth football for everyone, just not certain groups.

2002 Season
SYF Moved Leagues!! The 1st season with WesCo Jr. Football League. SYF fielded 5 teams with 1 PeeWee, 1 89er, 2 Junior and 1 Senior team. With the move to a new league, the divisional alignment was better for the Stanwood ballplayers. Now there is parity through out for all members of the community. So now PeeWee's are K-2, 89ers are 3rd &4th, Juniors are 5th & 6th and Seniors are 7th & 8th. No more Juniors playing 7th graders or Seniors playing High School Freshman.

There was a large effort from our old league to block the move, both personaly attacking the Commissioner of SYF as well as attepting to have the SCJAA disapprove the move. After the NCYFL had their opportunity to present it's case in front of the SCJAA board, the Board voted 100% to move leagues (something the SYF Commissioner was unable to do with the NCYFL Board). There was also local oposition by a few individuals that punished their children by not alowwing them to play football. The following year they all joined SYF.

As 2002 Season came to an end, all SYF teams were competitive, 3 teams making it to the play-offs and had fun with the White Juniors winning the WesCo Junior Division Championships.

2001 Season
The 2001 season had a number of life changing events occur. SYF started the season with 1 Pee Wee, 1 89er, 2 Midget , 1 Junior and 1 Senior team. Once again the league raised the weight limits while showing no concern for the smaller ballplayers.

September 11th changed the United States for ever. It was decided that the best thing we as a program could do is carry on and work to keep the world "normal". SYF scrammbled to get US flags on every Spartans jersey. SYF held home games the Saturday after the terrible attack with the National Anthem being sung.

The season had many rocky moments with claims against the Lakewood program of having illegal ballplayers. After an investigation the Lakewood team had to forfiet all the games the ballplayers participated in. The following week we found out Oak Harbor also had over aged ballplayers but the NCYFL President waived him.

2001 season was the end of the Stanwood/ NCYFL relationship.

2000 Season
The 2000 season started with the league adding weight to 2 divisions as well as allowing Freshman to continue to play at the Senior Division.

Stanwood fielded teams in the following divisions:

1 PeeWee
2 Midget
1 Junior and 1 Senior

Though the season was successful with Stanwood teams in the play-offs, conduct issues from other communities as well as issues with the Officials Association continues to put stress on the relationship with the league.
