Hi Coaches and Judges,

Please find attached the updated version of the Regional Prep Opt Rules for the 2008-2009

SC Gymnastics Season. Please make sure that when you are judging and coaching you

have the most current version which has the date of November 1st, 2008 listed on the rules.

The region has made a few changes to the rules that were given out this summer.

Most of the changes are in favor of the athletes and would not interfere with previous training.

However there was one change that Joanne Child, our State chair felt would be too hard to put into affect

this close to the competition season. Therefore South Carolina will have an exception for this one change for the 2008-2009 SC Prep Opt season. Please be aware that this exception will be in South Carolina only! If your athletes compete out of state or you plan to attend the Regional Prep Opt Invitational in May this exception will NOT apply.

SC Exception to the Regional Rules for the 2008-2009 Season

Gold Bars- Long Hang Pullover Bonus may be from a jump off the low bar or a cast

( please disregard preceded by a cast on your rules for Gold bars)effective in SC immediately

Please find below a quick reference to the changes that were made from the previous rules:

1. General- Optional Score Range will be used for all levels

2. General- Rhythm Deduction of  up to .2  was added for all levels

3. General- 1 minute warm up for the platinum level

4. Vault- Gold and Platinum use Level 7 Vault Rules

5. Bars-  Gold and Platinum: up to .2 deduction for a cast within 20 degrees of requirement

6. Beam- Silver, Gold and Platinum: up to .2 deduction for a leap or jump within 20 degrees of requirement

                                                    

7. Beam Silver Level: Handstand Bonus must start and finish on the beam

8. Beam- Gold Level: A salto or ariel dismount was added as bonus

9. Floor- Coach on the Floor ( No Deduction) NO Bonus even if there is NO Spot

Please be aware that the new rules are effective immediately and will be in place this weekend

at the SC Judges Cup. As time goes by, you may receive by e-mail further clarifications to the rules but this will be the final set of official Rules and changes for this prep opt season.
