Lodi Champions
CONGRATULATIONS - SC FLAMES Winners of the LODI Tournament
Last Updated: 9/25/05.

TEAM INFORMATION
The San Carlos Flames played in the U11B and U12B Abronzino League and placed third both years. The team also won the Lodi tournament winning all four games.

The team also plays in the Spring League and we typically increase our roster to 18 for the Spring season. Please contact John Quan (contact info below) for tryout information.

Here are a few details about the team:

1.        CYSA soccer is competitive and therefore it is important that any player signing up understand that this should be their highest priority after-school activity in the Fall. We play Spring soccer, but understand that other sports may take priority at that time

2.        We will practice twice a week in the Fall and games are generally on Saturdays

3.        We will start practicing in mid July and may play some
tournaments in August. The league season runs from September to the end of November

4.        Here are some important points to keep in mind:

    a.        We want everyone involved to have fun
    b.        We aim to always maintain a positive attitude and build self-esteem in every player
    c.        Respect for teammates, coaches, parents, referees and opponents is very important
    d.        We will play as a team, win and lose as a team and hopefully develop a love for the game that can be carried through a lifetime
    e.        There is no playing time requirement, but we expect each player to play in every game
    f.        We expect players to play several positions. Confining a player to one position at this age will not help their development

5.        The financial commitment should be manageable. Club fees, league fees and uniform package will be the major expenses. We would expect the total cost for the season to be around $300 without uniforms. We also expect that sponsors and fund raising will help keep costs down

See the Team Charter under the Handouts Folder for more detailed information on the team.

The head coach of the team is Paul Denton. Paul was a varsity captain in England and then played semi-professional soccer before moving to the US. In the US he took up indoor soccer and competed against many professional and US national team players. He has been coaching youth soccer for 10 years and has been through five levels of coaching accreditation and currently holds a National D coaching license. Paul is currently coaching a Class 1 CYSA U17G team in San Carlos United.

Tim Lippert and Bob Young are assistant coaches. Bob is a CYSA "F" licensed Certified Coach.

Tim has been an assistant or head coach in San Carlos AYSO for the past 8 years. He played AYSO as a youth in Menlo Park.
