     IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

THE 16-TEAM SOUTH CENTRAL BANK LADY INVITATIONAL OF THE SOUTH WILL NOT BE HELD IN 2009. ORGANIZERS AND TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS HAVE DECIDED TO END THE TOURNAMENT AFTER 25 GREAT YEARS.

IN PLACE OF THE SCBLIS, ALLEN COUNTY-SCOTTSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL WILL HOST A NEW EIGHT TEAM GIRLS AND AN EIGHT TEAM BOYS TOURNAMENT, DECEMBER 28-30. TEAMS INTERESTED IN TAKING PART IN THE NEW TOURNAMENT CAN CONTACT DON MEADOR AT donnie.meador@allen.kyschools.us

Game 28: Championship: Clarkrange (TN) 53, Ohio County 38

   Clarkrange High School, a small class A school from eatern middle Tennessee improved to 17-0 on the year with a 53-38 win over Ohio County in teh finals of teh 25th annual South Central Bank Lady Invitational of the South.

   Clarkrange shot 51.7% from the field (15-29) in the opening half to build a 35-20 lead at intermission. However, Ohio County refused to go down without a fight. The Lady Eagles outscored teh Lady Wildcats 12-8 in the third period to close to within 11 at the end of the third period. Early in the final period, Ohio County closed to with nine before Clarkrange pulled away to capture the SCBLIS crown.

    SCBLIS tournament MVP Molly Heady and Tashia Phillips shared scoring honors for Clarkrange. Joanna Jurgres led Ohio County with 12 points.

    With the vistory, Clarkrange became the seventh Tennessee school to win an SCBLIS title. Other Tennessee winners include Shelbyville Central, Franklin County, Riverdale, and Jackson County.

Game 27: Third Place: Livingston Academy (TN) 66, Notre Dame 61

   The Lady Wildcats of Livingston Academy (TN) survived a second half come back bid by Notre Dame to take third in the SCBLIS. Livingston Academy opened a 26-6 lead early in the second quarter before Notre Dame chipped away at the Lady Wildcat lead the rest of the way. Kendra Kilgore's 21 points led the way for Livingston Academy. Emily Lugwig's 17 points led Notre Dame.

Tuesday, December 30
Game 26: Fifth Place: North Hardin 70, Allen Co.-Scottsville 61

   The North Hardin Lady Trojans needed a 26 point effort by Raechaun Edwards and 16 points from Destiny Bramblett to outlast an upset bid by Allen County-Scottsville. Led by Shelby Harper's career high 33 points, the Lady Patriots battled teh Lady Trojans on both ends of the court. The differance came in the second quarter when North Hardin out scored the tournament hosts 17-10.

Top SCBLIS Players As Ranked in The Courier-Journal Pre-Season Player Rankings

Mariah Robinson (Ohio County) is ranked as the 12th best player in Kentucky and the top player in teh Third Region. The 5'6" senior has signed to play her collage ball at Murray State. Robinson's team mate Olivia Millsaps is regarded as the Third Region's 10th best player 

Erica Smith (Bowling Green) is listed as the third best player in the Fourth Region.

Shelby Harper (Allen County-Scottsville) is ranked as the fifth best player in the Fourth Region. 

RaeChaun Edwards (North Hardin) is a 5'4: sophomore rated as the 25th best player in teh state and the third best player in teh Fifth Region. Her North Hardin team mate, Destiny Bramblett is ranked as the fith best player in the Fifth Region while fellow teammate  Jennifer Smiley  is the ninth best player in Region Five. 

Jacy Bradley (Boone County) is regarded as the top player in the Ninth Region and the 21st top player in Kentucky. Bradley will play college ball at St. Louis. Teammate Lauren Bowling is listed as the tenth best player in the Ninth Region. 

Casey Jackson (Notre Dame) is rated as the second best player in the Ninth Region.

Jewel Rogers (Clark County) is rated as the second best player in the 10th Region with  Preshia Rogers (Clark County) ranked seventh in the region 

Ashhley Decker (Franklin County) is listed as the ninth best player in the 11th Region.,

 Sammy King (Knott County Central) is tated as the fifth best player in the 14th Region.,

A.D. Slone (Pike County Central) is listed as the ninth best player in Region 15.

  • 2008 will be the 25th year for the SCBLIS.
  • The 2008 tournament will have three first time participants: Livingston Academy (TN), Notre Dame, and Pike County Central. 
  • This year’s tournament includes one 30-game winners from last year; Clarkrange. 
  • This year's tournament will have ten 20-game winners from last year: Clarkrange (32-7), Ohio County (28-5), Pike County Central (25-6), Livingston Academy (TN) (25-8), Ashalnd Paul Blazer (24-5), North Hardin (24-8), Knott County Central (23-9),  Bowling Green (22-11), Boone County (21-10), and Notre Dame (20-11).
  • The 2008 tournament field includes Clarkrange, the 2008 TSSAA state tournament Class A runner-up.   
  • The 2008 SCBLIS includes Ohio County, a 2008 Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen® Basketball Tournament quarter-finalist. 
  • Clarkrange reached the quarter-finals of the TSSAA Class A state tournament in 2007. 
  • Antioch reached the quarter-finals of the TSSAA Class 3-A state tournament in 2007.

  • Bowling Green coach Lavonda Johnson played in the SCBLIS several times during her high school career at Warren East.
  • Allen County-Scottsville coach Brad Bonds, a 1994 graduate of ACS, served as an SCBLIS staff member during his college years at Campbellsville.
