SC Bulls play to 1-1 tie

The Bulls play continues to get stronger, as they tied previously unbeaten Central Valley United 1 to 1.  Brandon Boogaard was stellar in goal, stopping 8 shots, some of them from short distance.  He also started several good counter-attacks after saves.  The back line of Carlos Fonda, Alex Olvera, Brandon Loredo, Devin Rubino, and Edgar Frutos also played a key role in limiting United's chances.  The Bulls worked for several good shots on goal, and Brandon Loredo put in a beauty from 30 yards out; with Edward Martinez getting the assist off a free kick.

An incredible come-from-behind victory !

The Bulls left the NV United team stunned today, scoring two goals in the last 12 minutes while playing one, and then two men down.  Ricardo Noriega put in both goals; the first one on a nice cross from Edgar Frutos, who got the pass from Jerry Nova who battled two defenders in able to get the pass off.  The second goal was all determination, as Austen Brown served a ball in to Javier Bustamante, who set up Bulls attackers for a number of shots before Ricardo finally finished.  Every player on our team was pushed hard due to missing teammates, but they came through.  A great team effort for an important win !

SC Bulls win 2 over the weekend; move into 2nd Place

The Bulls played two great matches over the weekend; recording a second straight shut-out in beating the NV Milpitas Fusion 2 to 0, and then defeating a strong MVLA Raptors team 2 to 1.  Alex Olvera played solid in goal in both matches, making 5 saves and allowing only one goal, that on a penalty kick.  Sammy Hernandez, Ben Cardenas, Brandon Loredo, Angel Amezcua, Luis Niz, and Raymond Martinez were stout on the defensive end in limiting scoring chances.  Matthew Wallace, Brandon, and Jerry Nova each recorded an assist; and Matthew scored both goals in the Fusion match, and Brandon putting in both in the Raptors match.

SC Bulls remain tied for First Place; going 1 and 1 over the weekend

The team played quality soccer on both days over the weekend, losing 3 to 2 to the OV Earthquakes, and defeating the SC Strikers 5 to 0. In both matches the Bulls controlled both pace and possession, but missed a few easy ones that kept them from winning the first match. For the two matches, the team got goals from Javier Bustemante, Luis Niz, and Sammy Hernandez. The teams strong passing was proven by 11 assists on 7 goals. Austen Brown, Brandon Loredo, Ricardo Norriega, Javier, and Angel Amezcua each had assists, with Ricardo recording 4 ! Ryan Graysmark recorded his 2nd shutout of the season on Sunday. Jonathan Rocha and Julian Hinojosa played very well at Midfield, and Alex Olvera played two of his best matches at Center Fullback. SC Bulls play well in Rotary Cup

The Bulls, despite being short-handed, played three solid matches over the weekend in the Santa Clara Rotary Cup tournament.  In the first two matches, the Bulls outshot their opponents, and controlled possession better, but in each match they gave up a score on a long run that made the difference.  Frankie Saulus scored 2 goals, and Jerry Nova 1 goal.  Javier Bustemante, Brandon Loredo, and Jerry each added an assist.  It was good experience for the team, and not a bad result considering several players were missing for the weekend.  It's also a good tune-up for next weekend's Soccer-by-the-Bay tourney.
