COACH'S CORNER
WELCOME TO THE COACH'S CORNER SECTION OF SBRS: A Bulletin Board for SBRS Managers and Coaches

*Opening Day Ceremonies will begin Saturday, April 28 at 2pm. Please have your team and banners there no later than 1:30pm. Picture Day Schedules are listed on the home page.

* All Star Coaches needed - We are still in need of coaches and managers for the All-Star teams. The lists must be submitted the first week in May to your Division Head.

* All Star Tryouts – 10 & 12’s scheduled for May 5, 3:30pm. (Raindate: May 6)

* Opening day will be Saturday, April 28th. Each team should have their banners made for this day as well as be in full uniform for picture taking. Pictures will run from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM with the opening day ceremonies shortly thereafter. The picture schedule is being worked on and should be available when you pick up your uniforms. Rain Date: Sunday, April 29th.

* Training equipment and tapes - SBRS has purchased training equipment (whiffle balls (small and large), batting T’s, hit-aways and instructional tapes) for league use. If you borrow any of the items please make sure you return them in a timely manner so others can use them.

* Batting cage – the batting cage is available to all SBRS Teams. If you are interested in using the cage, please contact Charles Pia to see if the date of choice is available. Please remember that you are fully responsible for taking out the equipment and returning it to the proper tank. We have had instances where thiswasnot done properly. Please be courteous to the other managers and league and handle appropriately.

    * Official Softball bats - If your players are purchasing bats, remind them that the bat should say "Official Softball Bat" on the barrell. Umpires will be closely enforcing this rule.

    * Pitching Mask a must - Each team will be supplied with pitching masks. Alternatively, pitchers may purchase their own from the league for approximately $40 if desired. Remember this is a new rule for this year. No pitcher will be allowed to pitch without one.

    * 13-year-old try outs for Majors – 13-year-olds (born in 1993) will be able to try out for the Major division after they complete their Minor season. However, no 13-year-old is guaranteed a roster spot in the Majors. Tryouts will be are currently scheduled for May 24th, subject to change.

    * Banners – SBRS is still looking for people/businesses to purchase either a banner or ball. Cost for banner is $285 and cost for ball is $50. The message could be personal for one of the players or a sponsorship for a corporation. If you know anyone that is interested please contact the board.
    * Scores – send to SBRS@optonline.net the evening after the game or early the next morning.   - While the home team manager is officially responsible for reporting the score (win or lose), we encourage scores from both managers with a brief game summary so the girls' names can be entered into the paper and on the website. You should include 3-5 names in each report: Offensive standout, defensive standout, pitching standout and maybe the name of someone who doesn't get a lot of playing time. Our goal is to get every girl's name in the paper at least once this season for both the minis and the minors. Because the standings are updated each morning, game reports should be submitted either the evening after the game or early the morning after.
