MY DAUGHTER WANTS TO BE ON THE TEAM THAT HER FRIEND IS ON. CAN THIS BE DONE?
-We only permit this in the "Rookie" Divisions. Please indicate on your registration form that you'd like to be placed with a friend and specify the friend. Best efforts will be made to get this done.
DOES MY DAUGHTER HAVE TO TRY OUT FOR THE LEAGUE?
-Rookies do not have to try out. They are automatically placed on a team.
-Mini and Minors will be required to attend a brief tryout at the Cloonan MS Gym on the morning of March 3 as follows:
-MINIS: ALL girls born in 1998 and those born in 1997 and 1996 who are NEW TO THE LEAGUE must attend a brief 'tryout' on March 3 at the Cloonan MS gym so they can be placed on a team. If you were born in 1997 or 1996 and you were on a 'Mini' Division team last season, you do NOT need to attend tryouts. The 'Mini' Division Tryout schedule is as follows:
8am Registration for those who have not sent in a form

These girls are guaranteed a roster spot. Additionally, all girls born in 1993 WHO HAVE PLAYED ON A MINOR TEAM IN 2007 are also eligible to try out for the Major season. However, these girls are not guaranteed a spot on the team. They have to make the team. NO PLAYER BORN IN 1993 IS ELIGIBLE TO TRY OUT FOR OR PARTICIPATE ON A 2007 MAJOR DIVISION HOUSE TEAM IF SHE HAS NOT ALREADY PARTICIPATED ON A 2007 SBRS MINOR DIVISION HOUSE TEAM.
-SENIORS: The Senior Tryout situation is sill to be determined.
WHAT SHOULD MY DAUGHTER WEAR TO THE TRYOUTS?
-All girls trying out (Minis & Minors) should wear sneakers and comfortable clothes and bring their softball mitt. Bats will be supplied but if you prefer, you may use your own bat.
WHEN AND HOW OFTEN ARE PRACTICES?
-The practice schedule for each team is totally up to its manager. In general for the minis and minors, you should count on at least 2 practices per week before the season starts and, depending on the manager, some practices during the season.
WHERE, WHEN AND HOW OFTEN ARE GAMES?
-All games are played at the Troy Fields in Cove Island Park.
-Rookies play Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8-9:15am. The season will begin April 28 and continue through the beginning of June.
-Minis & Minors play at 5:45pm and 7:30pm on weekday evenings and between 9:30am and 7:30pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. You will average between 2 and 3 games per week. The Mini and Minor seasons will start April 9 and continue through the beginning of June. (No games will be scheduled during spring vacation week.)
-The Majors season start is contingent upon the end of the local high school seasons. Generally it falls around the second week of June and there are 15 games scheduled for each team over the course of about 3 weeks.
-No schedule has been set for the Seniors.
IS THERE A MUST-PLAY RULE AT SBRS?
-Yes. In all House Leagues all girls must play at least 2 innings in the field and have at least 1 at-bat. All Rookies play the entire game.
CAN MY DAUGHTER TRYOUT FOR THE SBRS ALL-STAR TEAMS?
-Yes. As long as your daughter has played in a 2007 SBRS House League, she is eligible to tryout for her age-appropriate All-Star Team. Of course, not all girls will make that team. NO PLAYER IS ELIGIBLE TO TRY OUT FOR OR PARTICIPATE ON AN ALL-STAR TEAM IF SHE HAS NOT ALREADY PARTICIPATED ON A 2007 SBRS HOUSE TEAM.
