STORM FINISHES 2nd IN HALLOWEEN BASH!!!
With an upset win over Sumner in game three, The Enumclaw Storm advanced to the Championship game against the defending national champions, Tukwila Reign . Although the Storm competed very well with the Reign, Tukwila took advantage of some costly mistakes by Enumclaw and went on to win 34-25. It was as exciting as we have ever seen. Every possesion meant something until late in the game. The girls should be proud....VERY PROUD!
Here is a tournament summary.
In game one on Saturday, Enumclaw played Eatonville and came away with a decisive 38-21 victory. It was a close game through the first half, but then Jessalyn exploded for 13 of her game high 18 points. Along with Jessalyn's hot hand, the Enumclaw defense only allowed Eatonville to score 5 points in the entire 20:00 second half. Scorers for the game were: Jessalyn 18, Danica 10, Britney 6, Chloe and Heather each with two.
In game two, the Storm played a familiar foe, the Kent Jay Hawks. The Jay Hawks, which normally has two teams, combined their best players from both teams for this tournament. It was a great game for both teams from beginning to end. At half time, the score was 18-11 in favor of the Storm, but Kent went on an impressive 11-2 scoring run and brought the score within one, midway through the second half. Devan then went on a scoring run of her own, scoring 6 points, of her game high 10 points, to help Enumclaw pull away and win 33-23. Scorers for the game were: Devan 10, Britney 7, Jessalyn 6, Heather 4, Chloe 3, Danica 2 and Melissa 1.
In game three on Sunday, Enumclaw faced another familiar team, Sumner. Enumclaw started quickly, jumping out to an early 12-2 lead, but Sumner came charging back to pull within three. Once again Jessalyn became the hot hand and helped the Storm pull ahead at half by a score of 19-9. Jess continued her hot hand, scoring a game high 24 points to help Enumclaw upset Sumner 37-22. It was the first time in four attempts the Storm has beaten Sumner and the girls should be really proud. Scorers for the game were: Jessalyn 24, Britney 6, Heather 3, Devan and Chloe each with 2
In game 4, the championship game, Enumclaw took on the perinial powerhouse, Tukwila Reign. Most thought it would be a waste of time, however, the Storm had different ideas. After trailing early, Enumclaw scratched and clawed its was back into the game and eventually lost by nine, 34-25. Scorers for the game were: Devan 9, Jessalyn 8, Britney 6 and Heather with 2.
This weekend was a great TEAM effort and a lot of fun to watch. I think even the girls became Believers that TEAM WORK WINS. We didn't rely on any one individual, but every member on this team. Once again, GREAT JOB!!!!
NEXT STOP WENATCHEE................
STORM TAKES THIRD IN WENATCHEE!!
The Enumclaw Storm traveled to Wenatchee, WA. November 5-7 to compete in the 9th annual Veternas Memorial tournament. After three days of play, Enumclaw walked away with a 2-2 record and third place in the tournament. It was another exciting weekend of basketball to watch, as well as, a great opportunity for the team to bond. Hayley, Heather and Melissa won the "shopping Spree" by spending all of their money except for 29 cents. I am not sure which girl won at bowling, but it was clear both the parents and players had a great time. For me, It was one of the most enjoyable away trips we have taken in the four years we have been together, thanks girls!
Here are the results of our four games. In Game 1 on Friday night, Enumclaw took on the home town Eastmont Shock. The first half was a defensive battle for both teams and resulted in a halftime score of 12-9 in favor of the Storm. The second half Enumclaw switched to a man to man full court press which resulted in several turn overs and a final score of 35-20 in favor of The Storm. Scorers for the game were: Britney 11, Jessalyn 10, Danica 6, Chloe 4, Hayley and Devan each with 2.
Game two, the Storm took on a very familiar and agressive, Eastmont Lady Cats team. The game was intense and close the entire way, with both teams changing leads several times. At the end of regulation, the score was tied 24-24 and we headed into overtime. In overtime, the lead changed hands a couple of times, however in the end, Eastmont walked away with a 29-28 win. What a game!!!!! Scorers for the game were: Britney 16, Danica 4, Jessalyn 3, Chloe and Devan each with two.
Game three, Enumclaw faced the Wenatchee Panthers. Enumclaw bounced back from the heart breaker loss to Eastmont and dominated the Panthers on both ends of the floor. At halftime Enumclaw was on top 17-5 and went on to win 39-12. Scorers for the game were: Jessalyn 10, Danica 8, Britney 4, Hayley 4, Devan 4, Chloe 2, Melissa 2 and Heather with 1.
Game four, the semi final, Enumclaw matched up against the Moses Lake Thunderettes. For those who remember last year, Moses Lake killed us. This year was a different story. The Storm ran with the Thunderettes for most of the game, with the lead changing hands a couple of times. Enumclaw however had a five minute scoreless drought which allowed Moses Lake to go on and win 41-27. Scorers for the game were:

Congratulations to all of the Storm team members that tried out for their respective Middle School teams.
Chloe, Heather, Melissa and Devan all made the Varsity team at Thunder Mt Middle School. Britney, Jessalyn, Danica and Hayley all made the team at Enumclaw Middle School. Great job girls, your hard work paid off.
DO YOU WANT TO GO TO A HUSKY WOMEN'S GAME AS A TEAM?
Players, please take the survey below. If we decide to go, I will order tickets sometime during the week after Christmas.
As we look forward to 2005, always remember the fun we had in 2004.
2004 was a year filled with a lot of basketball and good times. For the year, the team had 41 wins and 16 losses. Along with that came two tournament championships, one second place finish and two third place finishes. It was a "break out" year for many, achieving things they had never thought they could do.
2004 saw us travel to Seaside, Wenatchee, Leavenworth and Vancouver. The Seaside team dinners were entertaining (most are with B.C. around)as was bowling in Leavenworth. We finally figured out Sumners 9th grade team and beat a couple of High School J.V. teams in Edmonds. We wrapped up the season with a great team Christmas Party at the Mills house, it was an awesome time!
We lost four players and picked up two new ones. We lost Lauren and Kelsie, our two youngest players to teams their own age (I have seen both of them play recently and they are both doing awesome). We also lost Amanda, in the fall, to Soccer and Rachel.....well I'm still not sure why they pulled her off the team. Amanda and Rachel are both playing for their Middle school teams and doing very well.
Hayley Kohler and Melissa Mills joined our team this year and have been doing a great job. We look forward to seeing both of them grow in 2005.
Here is a look back at some highlights from 2004.
First, Who could ever forget one of the most exciting things that has ever happened in Storm basketball. We are down by two with 4 seconds to go in the game. If we lose, we go home. If we pull out a miracle and win, we go to the championship. Heather Hitch gets fouled with four seconds left and goes to the line. Keep in mind, to this point, Heather has struggled with her foul shooting. With everyone in the place on their feet, she sinks the first one. Then with everyone on their feet and the gym dead silent, she drains the second one and sends the game into overtime. We won in overtime and went on to play in the championship game.
Another memory was waking up to darkness in Seaside. It seems someone had crashed into a power pole with their car and knocked out the power to the hotel. The girls were on the verge of panic as they realized they needed power to operate their hair straighteners. After a couple of hours without power, it came back on and we all went to PIG-N-PANCAKE for breakfast.
Also on that same trip a number of families made the short drive down to Canon Beach to see Haystack Rock and play around on the beach.
I also remember the Octoberfest tournament where a couple of girls from the opposing team were acting a little cocky and making comments about Danica's size. You see they were a High School JV team and had a number of Sophomores and a couple of Juniors. Once the game started they quickly shut up as Danica went on to light them up for a game high 14 points.
I also remember during the first half of the season our game high scorers consisted mainly of one or two girls. The second half of 2004, we saw six different players end up as the high scorer for the game.
If there were two words to describe 2004, it would have to be "TEAM" and "COMMITMENT". They learned that team work wins. Five people on offense and five people on defense working together is hard to beat. They also learned if you are committed to the team and work hard, good things happen.
Thanks for a wonderful 2004, It was fun to watch and we look forward to seeing what 2005 has to bring.

STORM GOES 2-2 IN OCTOBERFEST TOURNAMENT
In their first major tournament of the season, The Storm ended up 2-2 in the Octoberfest tournament held at Mariner High School in Everett.
In the first game, Enumclaw played excellent team basketball, beating Tahoma's JV team 48-35. Scorer's for the game were Jessalyn with 12, Chloe 8, Heather 8, Danica 7, Devan 7 and Britney 6.
In Game two, the Storm took on the West Side (Poulsbo) JV team and won 39-18. Again, the team played solid team basketball, distribuing the ball around the floor. Scorers for the game were Danica 14, Jessalyn 10, Heather 5, Britney 4, Chloe 3, Devan and Melissa with 2 each.
Game 3 was not so pretty. Enumclaw took on a tough Shot Callers team from Spanaway. The loss was the Storm's second loss of the season and dropped them to 2-1 in the tournament. Scorers for the game were, Jessalyn 8, Britney 4, Danica, 4, Rachel 4, Devan 2 and Heather with 1.
In Game 4, It was a hard fought battle by both teams. The Storm simply lost their legs and their focus, then dropped a tough one 42-39 to Mt. Baker. Scorers for the game were Rachel 15, Chloe 7, Jessalyn 7, Britney 6 and Devan 4.

The Enumclaw Storm would like to welcome Melissa Mills to the Storm family. Melissa is an 8th grader at Thunder Mt. Middle school in Enumclaw and will play post for the Storm. We look forward to having her on the team. Welcome Melissa!
THANK YOU-WE WILL MISS YOU
I would like to Thank the entire Heep family for their dedication and support to the Storm team over the last 3 years. Amanda has decided not to play this upcoming season and instead will concentrate on soccer.
Amanda has been with us since day one, we are going to miss her! GOOD LUCK AMANDA!
We are also losing our two younger players Lauren and Kelsi. Both will be playing select basketball in their age group and I am sure will do very well. I would like to wish both of them the best of luck with their new teams. We will be watching and following how you do.
Thanks again to all three, you will always be part of the Storm family.
In addition to your summer shots, you may also want to put in extra time shooting free throws. Our first fund raiser will be a free throw shooting competition. Like our Leukemia fund raiser last year, you will be given 100 foul shots. You will receive pledges for each shot made.
The money you make through pledges will go to offset your player fee, which by the way, is $300.00. (not all due at once)
HOW MANY SHOTS HAVE YOU DONE THIS SUMMER?
STORM 2-2 IN LEAVENWORTH, FINISH 21-12
After a disappointing loss to Skyline of Issaquah, The storm bounced back to beat Chelan to finish in forth place. It was a very competitive tournament, especially our division. All four teams from our division beat the other four teams in the other division during the chamionship round. In all, it was a great season. The girls finished the season with a 21-12 record, two tournament championships, a second place finish and a lot more basketball experience. We will start filling the Summer/Fall roster sometime in late April or Early May. Most likely we will hold a one day tryout, however, we are not totally sure at this point. If we do hold a tryout, it will only be for spots that have opened up.
STORM WINS VANCOUVER HOOP CLASSIC!
The Storm traveled to Vancouver, WA. this past weekend to participate in the one day, Vancouver Hoop Classic. The girls won all three of their games defeating Woodland, WA., Gresham, OR. "Flash" and the Tualitan, OR. "Grizzlies".
The Storm played up-tempo, aggressive, TEAM basketball in all three games, it was exciting to watch. Two of the three teams had overall winning records so far this season, with the "Flash" being undefeated up until now. GREAT JOB TO ALL OF THE GIRLS.

STORM WINS SEASIDE TOURNAMENT!!!!!!!!!
 | |
The Storm traveled to Seaside, OR March 5th, 6th and 7th to participate in the 12 team, Seaside Classic Basketball Tournament. With a record of 4-0, the girls walked away with their second tournament championship of the season.
In the first round of the tournament, Storm Beat both Hillsboro, OR and "Shock" from Portland, OR.
Round two proved to be a little tougher as the Storm was matched against two very physical teams from Toledo, WA and Banks (Cottage Grove) OR. Both games were very physical and a good test for the girls. They showed a lot of heart and spirit and have another championship to show for it.
STORM GOES 2-2 IN ISSAQUAH!
The Storm hung out close to home this past weekend, playing in the Issaquah Presidents day tournament. The girls ended up going 2-2 in the tournament and finishing 6th out of 12 teams.
In Saturdays games, the Storm lost close, hard fought games to Issaquah and Inglemoore. On Sunday the girls beat both Mt Lake Terrace and Bothell.
The Storm hosted a Hoop Shoot fund raiser for the Leukemia-Lymphoma Foundation on February 24th at Thunder Mt. Middle School. Each member of the team shot 100 foul shots, and earned a donation for each basket made.
Our team goal was to raise $500.00, however through the hard work and awesome shooting of all the players, we raised $1008.00!
STORM FINISHES 2ND IN RAIN DROP TOURNAMENT
 | | |
The Storm Traveled to Edmonds Community College this past weekend to particpate in the WTA "Rain Drop" Tournament. After winning the first three games against BSI, Lake Steven and Advantage 6, the girls ran out of gas and ran into a very well coached Advantage 7 team. The Advantage team was much more aggressive and shot the ball extremely well. The Storm finished the tournament with a 3-1 record and 2nd place overall. It was a great weekend of basketball, especially the come from behind, over time win against Advantage 6. Great Job Girls!
The Storm girls basketball team would like to thank Work-Sports & Outdoors for their generous donation of basketballs, water bottles and athletic bags for each team member. All totaled, the donation exceeds $100.00 per player and is greatly appreciated by all of us.
Please support them in return by shopping at their stores in Enumclaw, Orting and Renton.
STORM PICKS UP 3rd PLACE IN WENATCHEE TOURNAMENT!!!
To start out their season, the Storm traveled east to play in the 9th annual Wenatchee Veteran's Memorial tournament, November 8th and 9th. (TO SEE PICTURES, CLICK ON STORM PICTURES)
With a new look this season and five new players, everyone was excited to see how the team would perform. For their first tournament, the girls played remarkably well coming away with a 2-2 record and third place overall. Here is a game by game look.
Game 1 Friday 9:00 PM vs Eastmont
Friday was a long day for the Storm. Eight of the girls had tryouts at their Middle schools which ended around 5:00pm. All of the girls were picked up from tryouts and we immediately headed out on the road. After a 3 hour trip, we arrived to play Eastmont of Wenatchee.
Eastmont was a big, well coached team, who hit a lot of outside shots. After falling behind early, the Storm battled back, but eventually ran out of gas towards the end of the game. Eastmont went on to win 34-25.
Scoring for the game:
Rachel-9
Danica-5
Devan-4
Britney-4
Lauren-3
Game 2 Saturday 12:00 vs Richland
In game two, Enumclaw was well rested and came to play. The game was close for most of the first half, with Richland leading 12-11 at half time. The second half was totally opposite. The Storm controlled most of the second half scoring 18 points and holding Richland to just 3. The final score was 31-15 Enumclaw.
Scoring for the game:
Rachel-10
Jessalyn-6
Britney-4
Kelsie-2
Devan-3
Heather-2
Amanda-2
Chloe-2
Game 3 Saturday 3:00 vs Cashmere
Game three was controlled by Enumclaw from the Start. By half, the Storm had a commanding 12-2 lead and went on to win 29-14. This game gave us a good opportunity to play with the lineup to see how certain girls play with each other and in different positions.
Scoring for the game:
Jessalyn-8
Devan-8
Rachel-6
Britney-4
Kelsie-3
Game 4 Sunday 10:00 vs Moses Lake
Simply put, Moses lake is a power house. After digging a hole early, the Storm fought back to give them a bit of a scare, however Moses Lake was way too deep to keep up with. Final score was Moses Lake 43-25.
Scoring for the game:
Rachel-10
Devan-7
Britney-3
Lauren-2
Jess-1
All in all it was a great weekend and we learned a lot. The girls played well and got some valuable experience. Our next tournament is our own "Thunder Mt. Classic" December 6th & 7th.

SBC WINS VANCOUVER HOOP TOURNAMENT
The Storm girls basketball team traveled to Vancouver, Washington this past weekend and won the Vancouver Hoop Tournament.
With several players suffering from flu, colds and injuries the players knew they would have to stick together and turn up their level of play just to compete. To make matters even worse, ten minutes into the first game Britney was knocked backwards by an opposing player and broke her wrist. That left the Storm with six players, which meant only one sub for the remainder of the tournament. With that said, the girls went to work and played the best I have seen them play all season, they were absolutely incredible! The tournament MVP, as voted on by her team mates, was Amanda Heep. Amanda played outstanding defense forcing several turn overs and providing consistent pressure on the opposing teams players.
More information and pictures will be posted to this web site over the next couple of days, so check back, there are some great pictures. It was a lot of fun for all!!!!!!
SOME PICTURES WERE ADDED 1/27/01 (THANKS BRIAN & KAMI). YOU CAN SEE THEM BY CLICKING ON PHOTO ALBUMS, THEN CLICK ON VANCOUVER 2003. MORE WILL BE ADDED OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
MORE PICTURES WERE ADDED 2/6/03

STORM SPRING TEAM CROWNED CHAMPIONS!
The Storm spring team traveled to Lake Stevens to compete in the 2002 Lake Stevens Hoopfest. SBC competed on Saturday, along with seven other teams from Lynnwood, Everett, Kirkland, Redmond, Stanwood, Mt Baker and Edmonds. Each team was competing to see who could earn enough points to make it to Sundays Final Four Playoff round.
Game 1 on Saurday
Storm 24 Stanwood 22
In a game that was neck and neck the whole way, offensive rebounding seemed to be the key. Although much shorter, Stanwood out rebounded the Storm through most of the game. Late in the game key offensive rebounds from Mallory Paschich, Jessalyn Clark and Rachell Sims were put back in for Storm points, which resulted in the win.
Scorers for the game were: Jessalyn Clark (5), Britney Price (5), Rachell Sims (5), Adrianna Schipper (4) and Mallory Paschich (4).
Game 2 on Saturday:
Storm 41 Club BSI 38
SBC roared out to an early 12-0 lead. The Storm continued to hold a pretty sizeable lead through most of the first half. The key for the Storm was its backcourt press. BSI could not seem to effectively get through the SBC defense without turning the ball over. In the second half BSI came to life, scoring several unanswered baskets. Then with 2:00 left in the game, SBC saw its nine point lead shrink to three as time ran out.
Scorers for the game were: Rachell (11), Adrianna (10), Alex Chynoweth (6), Britney Price (6), Jessalyn Clark (4), and Mallory Paschich (4).
With those two wins SBC secured the number one seed into Sundays Final Four playoff round. Also earning their way into the final four were Harbor Heat, BSI and Stanwood. With an early win over Harbour Heat, Stanwood would face the winner of Enumclaw Storm and BSI game, in the Championship Game.
Game 1 on Sunday
Storm 30 Club BSI 18
In a game much similar to the day before, SBC jumped out to an early 9-0 lead. BSI came charging back and tied the game just before halftime. In the second half the Storm squashed any hopes of a BSI come back. Once again the Storm defense and backcourt press, forced several turnovers that resulted in Storm points.
Scorers for the game: Britney Price (14), Rachell Sims (6), Adrianna Schipper (6), and Jessalyn Clark (4).
Game two on Sunday- CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
In one of the most exciting games I have ever seen, both teams played exceptionally well.
Playing Stanwood for the second time in two days, SBC knew it would be facing a shorter faster opponent. To counter that, the Storm went with their four tallest players inside, while sending their fastest player after the ball at all times.
This strategy seemed to pay off as the score remained close most of the way. The lead changed hands several times, however at no point during the game did either team have more than a four point lead.
Then with a four point lead and about a minute left, Stanwood tied the game at 24 all. With possesion of the basketball, SBC knew it only had one chance to win. The ball was passed to Adrianna, who was near the top of the key, on the left hand side, near the three point line. With about :06 seconds left she tried to drive and only made it about 5 feet before being met by the Stanwood defense. Knowing that time was running out she stopped and pulled up for a jump shot and was fouled, sending her to the foul line with .03 seconds on the clock. She stepped to the line and her first shot bounced off the rim. Then with Stanwood parents and Players screaming at the top of their lungs, Bugs stepped to the line and hit nothing but the bottome of the net. That put the storm up 25-24 with .03 seconds left.
Stanwood tried to get the ball up court, but the Strom defense was simply too much. The final Score SBC 25 Stanwood 24.
Leading scorers for the game: Adrianna Schipper (15), Rachell, (6), and Britney Price (4).
The Storm wins second place in Battle of the Sound
The Enumclaw Storm jumped out to two quick victories in the Battle of the Sound tournament at Washington High on Saturday to land second place in the four-team bracket.
SBC defeated the Lightning of Puyallup, 25-22, in the first game, locking up a 12-4 halftime lead that was sparked by Jessalyn Clarks back-to-back baskets to put Enumclaw ahead, 6-2 after Adrianna Schipper put the Storm on the board.
Schipper fueled the offense throughout the game, scoring 10 points, grabbing four rebounds and two steals. Rachell Sims added four points, Britney Price had three and Stephanie Sloss chipped in two points.
The Storm controlled the boards, too.
Alex Chynoweth grabbed nine rebounds and dished out two assists. Clark had seven rebounds.
Shelby Condon and Amanda Heep boosted Enumclaws defense.
Though Puyallup rallied in the second half to cut its deficit to 23-20 with 3 minutes remaining, the Storm held the Lightning scoreless until it answered Schippers last-minute putback with a buzzer beater.
The girls played hard and achieved a lot this weekend, Storm coach Bob Price said, and for that we should be proud.
Game 2
Enumclaw Storm 27, Eatonville Wildstars 24, OT Sims sank a lay-in 25 seconds into overtime to give the Storm the lead and Clark iced it with a putback seconds later.
With 19 seconds remaining in regulation, Schipper passed the ball to Sims, who sank it to tie the game at 23.
The Storm missed Prices on-court presence after she severly sprained her ankle in the first five minutes of the second game.
Sims led all scorers with 12 points, grabbing six rebounds and five steals and passed two assists. Schipper scored nine points and had five rebounds. Clark added four points, two steals and 13 rebounds while Chynoweth scored two points and grabbed eight rebounds. Sloss had two rebounds. Condon kept Eatonville running with her fast-paced defense.
Game 3, Sunday
Wildstars 22, Storm 20, 2 OT Enumclaw and Eatonville exchanged the lead throughout the game. In the defensive struggle, neither team had more than a four-point advantage.
Sims hit two free throws with 10 seconds left to send the game into its first overtime, then forced the second OT by making the only basket of the 2-minute period.
Despite the Storms best effort in the 1-minute second overtime period, the Wildstars sank a basket with 11 seconds remaining for the victory.
Sims scored a team-high 10 points and grabbed five steals. Clark also snared five steals and Schipper had four.
Condon was relentless on defense with five dives, two smothers and a steal. Sloss had three and Heep had two smothers while both chipped in three dives apiece to keep a tight rein on Eatonville.
Chynoweth grabbed 13 rebounds for the Storm while Clark nabbed eight and Schipper had seven.
Game 4, Sunday
Wildstars 26, Storm 22 Enumclaw fell behind after a controversial technical call and Coach Bob Prices subsequent ejection.
But the Storm didnt go away quietly.
Schipper led Enumclaw with 10 points and eight steals, smothering four times and smacking down two deflections. She also grabbed four rebounds and handed out one assist.
Sims scored all seven of her points in the first half, including one three-pointer after the technical. She said it was just too hard to focus after coach Price was ejected.
All was not lost, however. Clark highlighted the game with 15 rebounds, two points, an assist, two steals and a deflection. Sloss added two rebounds and three steals while Condon had two steals, two dives and five smothers. Heep added a rebound, steal and three smothers.
Chynoweth nabbed eight rebounds and two steals while scoring three points.

STORM WINS THE GOLD - 2002 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 20-2
Storm vs. Prahnas
34 - 19
Did you ever see the movie "Piranah"? Todays game against the "Prahnas" reminded of that action packed adventure film where you didn't dare stick your hand in the water or else it came out as a fingerless club. Although the Prahnas weren't baring their teeth their aggressive defense of 3 on 1 produced more than a few scrapes and bruises. As usual, Storm didn't lose their cool and played aggressive and smart basketball.
Storm's defense held Prahnas scoreless for nine minutes into the game. Turnovers allowed Prahnas to pick up some quick points to bring the score at half time to 18 - 13. Storm came out in the second half charged and ready to conduct business. They passed the ball well, hussled down the court, stole the ball numerous times as well as tipping it out of bounds - they took charge of the game both offensively and defensively. Storm picked up 15 points in the second half compared to Prahnas' 6. Mara made an awesome three point shot and Rachell had some nice assists. Jessalyn had a great game on the board both in scoring and rebounding. Top scorers for the game were Mara and Jessalyn with (8) each, Britney (6), Rachell (4), Mallory (4), Adrianna (2) and Amanda (2). Top rebounder was Jessalyn with (13), followed by fellow jumpers Britney (7), Adrianna (7), Alex (4), Stephanie (4), Mallory (4), Amanda (3), Mara (2), Jaynae (2) and Rachell (1). Despite their deep seated desire to get really "physical" Storm fouls were at a minimum today with a team total of 5; Adrianna (2), Mara (2) and Mallory (1). Way to keep your cool girls! Storm decided not to play the "sharing" game today and stole the ball 11 times leaving their opponents frustrated and empty handed. Mara led her playmates with 4 steals followed by Britney with (2), Jessalyn (2), Amanda (1) and Rachell (1). Final score was 34 - 19, sweet victory!
What a great team effort from all of the Storm players. You each contribute something special to the team and you can take pride in knowing that you reached the top together. CONGRATULATIONS - 2002 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.
DOPPLER RADAR MOVES STORM TO 18-2 RECORD
The Enumclaw Storm U-11 girls basketball team traveled north, to Edmonds, to play a pair of league games Saturday, February 16th.
Storm 36 Comets 24
In Game one, SBC played the comets of Tacoma. The storm knew a little bit about the Comets as it was the third time in four weeks the two teams have faced each other. The Storm pulled out to a quick 6-0 lead, four of those points coming from Jessalyn Clark, who had an outstanding game. Her play inside was phenominal, and it was probably the best game I've seen her play.
In the second half the Storm defense came alive, as they held the comets to a total of seven points. Rachell Sims and Mallory Paschich had the hot hands, scoring four points apiece. scorers for the game were: Alex-7, Britney-7, Jessalyn-6, Rachell-6, Mallory-4, Stephanie-4, Adrianna-2 Rebounder for the game: Adrianna-10, Alex-7, Mallory-7, Stephanie-6, Jessalyn-5, Britney-4, Shelby-2.
Storm 25 Eastlake Wolves-24
Facing a much taller and physical team, than the first game, SBC refused to back down. The Storm quickly jumped out to an 8-0 lead. Realizing that we were not "SLOW", the Wolves were forced to call time out and re-think their game plan.
From that point on the game became much more intense and physical. By the end of the half Eastlake pulled into a tie with SBC and forced and interesting second half.
In the seocnd half, defense and turnovers were the name of the game. The lead changed hands a couple of times and the pressure kept mounting. With approx three minutes to play and the Wolves up 20-19, Coach Price received a cheap and I quote "CHEAP" technical foul which gave them two points, Possesion of the ball and a 22-19 lead. realizing the game could be slipping away, the Storm defense turned it up a notch holding the Wolves to two points and forcing several turnovers which resulted in SBC points. Finally, with about 20 seconds left on the clock, the score 24-23 Eastlake, SBC brought the ball over mid-court. Rachell drove to the hoop, missed the shot, Jessalyn rebounded the ball, passed it out to Stephanie who hit about a twelve footer to put the Storm ahead 25-24. SBC immediatly pressed, causing the Wolves to turn the ball over The Storm wasted time until the clock expired to keep their league record perfect at 8-0. Scorers for the game: Jessalyn-8, Rachell-7, Adrianna-4, Britney-4, Stephanie-2. Rebounders for the game: Britney-12, Adrianna-9, Rachell-6, Alex-6, Jessalyn-5, Mallory-1.
NORTHWEST HOOPS 2002 DES MOINES CLASSIC CHAMPIONS!!!!!
Congratulations Storm on another exciting tournament championship. YOU'RE AWESOME!!!
Storm v. Hotshots
33 - 18
Storm defense was dynamite holding the Hotshots from scoring in the first 7 minutes. Likewise, Hotshots gave our offense a tough time and played tight defense keeping our shooters to 6 points in the first 12 minutes of the game. The score at half time was 14 - 6. After an inspirational talk from Coach Price (he was probably asking what the girls were wearing to the ball that night) Storm came out on fire scoring 19 points in the second period. Storm players did a great job anticipating the pass and stole the ball 19 times. Rachell was husseling with (6) steals followed by her fellow thieves Amanda (4), Britney (3), Jessalyn (3), Mara (1), Danica (1), and Adrianna (1). Doing a great job shaking the net and adding to the scoreboard were Rachell (9), Britney (8), Adrianna (8), Jessalyn (4), Jaynae (2),and Shelby (2). Storm pushed their way under the baskets and pulled down 41 rebounds (WAY TO GO YOU MIGHTY LEAPERS!). Britney was on fire with (11) rebounds followed by Jessalyn (7), Adrianna (6), Rachell (5), Jaynae (4), Amanda (3), Mara (2), Danica (2), and Alex (1). Once again Storm was very well mannered with only 4 team fouls. Amanda takes credit for half the fouls with (2) and Danica and Mara each had (1). Great game girls - we're proud of you!
Storm vs. Tacoma Storm
23 - 29
If it wasn't for the six wonderful Cinderella's who stayed home from the ball to take on the wicked step sisters (just kidding - they weren't wicked just a little nasty at times) Storm may not have made it to the championship. The glass slippers are awarded to Danica, Mara, Gabby, Rachell, Alex and Jaynae. Thanks so much for your dedication and for keeping Storm in the running for 1st place. Top scorer in the game was "golden touch" Rachell with (17) and her partner "golden fingers" Mara with (6). Total team fouls was 8: Gabby (3), Danica (2), Mara (1), Rachell (1) and Jaynae (1). Way to go girls - you're the greatest!
Storm vs. Tacoma Storm
36 - 34
Wait a minute is this hockey or basketball? I kept getting confused. This was one of the most exciting games to watch and also probably one of the most physical games Storm has had to play. A couple new faces were added to the Tacoma Storm team since we played them last. The new players brought to the court a more aggressive street style of basketball. Although not used to playing so "physical" Storm players did an excellent job playing their style of game and keeping their cool. In the first 90 seconds Storm scored 6 points and ruffled Tacoma's feathers with a full court press. The game continued to be close right up to half time with a score of 17-16. Storm maintained the lead throughout the game until 7 minutes left when Tacoma tied the score at 31 - 31. Tacoma got into some foul trouble and lost one of their leading scorers. Storm took advantage and continued to play excellent defense and aggressive offense and took it down to the wire finishing the game with a score of 36 - 34. Wow what a nail biter! Leading a dynamite offense was Rachell with (12), Britney (10), Adrianna (6), Mara (6), and Jessalyn (2). Our defense was hot with a total of 17 steals. Mara's quick hands snatched (6) balls followed by Adrianna (3), Rachell (2), Jessalyn (2), Danica (2), Jaynae (1) and Britney (1). Rebounds were plentiful in this game with a team total of 42. Rachell and Britney shared the lead with (9) each, followed by Mara (6), Jaynae (5), Jessalyn (5), Adrianna (4), Stephanie (2), Amanda (1) and Danica (1). Considering how physical this game was Storm players managed to keep their fouls to a minimum of 8: Mara (3), Britney (2), Adrianna (2) and Danica (1). This was a well earned victory and better yet - WE DESERVED IT! Great job girls!!!!!
CHAMPTIONSHIP GAME
Storm vs. Heat
19 - 17
Since we chewed off our nails in the third game we were down to knawing on our cuticles in the fourth game. This was a well matched game between two evenly talented teams. Once again defense was key in bringing about this well earned victory. The first point was made after six minutes of play with a shot by Storm at the free throw line. At half time the score was 10 - 8 with Storm leading by a narrow margin. The second half was much like the first with both teams exchanging points one after the other. Free throw points were a determining factor in this game with Storm scoring 5 points at the free throw line. Heat kept up an aggressive defensive game but Storm players refused to be out classed and stole the ball 15 times. Sharing in the "light fingers" award was Rachell with (4), Jaynae (3), Mara (2), Britney (2), Adrianna (1), Danica (1), Jessalyn (1), and Shelby (1). Ms. Manners would be proud of Storm's courtside manners with only a few or more (8) fouls. The "oops I didn't mean to do it" award goes to Adrianna with (3), Jessalyn (2), Britney (1), Mara (1) and Stephanie (1). Rebounds were critical in this game in order for us to stay on top and Storm did their job well with a team total of 38 rebounds. Camping out under the basket was our leader Adrianna with (11), followed by a fellow camper Britney (10), Jessalyn (7), Rachell (6), Mara (2), Alex (1) and Amanda (1). The game went down to the wire with 27 seconds on the clock, a score of 19 - 17 on the board, and Heat with the possession of the ball out of bounds. Storm played smart defensive ball and kept Heat from going to their basket. The game ended in victory with a lot of exhausted parents. Oh yea, the players were tired too! Rachell did a great job driving to the basket and scoring (11), Mara scored (6) two of which were like swisher sweets and Britney shared in the sweets with (2) of her own free throw shots. It was a great game, a great tournament and you all can be proud to wear the title of NORTHWEST HOOPS 2002 DES MOINES CLASSIC CHAMPIONS!!!!
WEATHER FRONT HITS - STORM RAGES TO A 13-1 RECORD
February 3, 2002
Storm vs. Comets
20 - 6
Storm came out slow in the first 10 minutes of play scoring only 3 points to the Comets 2. Comets defense kept the offense from their shooting game and limited Storm points to 7 in the first half. By the end of the 3rd quarter the score was Storm 11 and Comets 4. Storm defense nearly shut out Comets shooting and limited them to only 6 points in the entire game. The "Kodak moment" in this game was when Adrianna played tug-of-war with #14 and picked her up in the air. #14 pretended she was like gak and clung with all fours to the ball. The whistle blew and like an obedient player Adrianna looked at the referee and dropped the ball with #14 still connected. Luckily #14 didn't hurt her bottom when she hit but her pride might have been slightly bruised. Players scoring in this game were; Rachell with a team high of (7), Britney (4), Adrianna (3), Jessalyn (2), Mallory (2), and Jaynae (2). Top rebounder for the game was Britney with (8), followed by teammates Adrianna (7), Rachell (5), Mallory (4), Amanda (3), Stephanie (3), Jessalyn (3) and Shelby (1). Total Storm fouls was 13. Final score was Storm 20, Comets 6.
Storm vs. Wolverines
23 - 14
This was the day for slow starts. Storm scored their first two points after 6 minutes of play and the second basket came after 11 1/2 minutes. At half time the score was Storm 11 and Wolverines 8. In the 3rd quarter Storm defense kept the Wolverines to adding only 1 point to their score. At the end of the 3rd quarter Storm was up 15 to 9. Another "Kodak moment" came when Shelby was fouled during the "perfect shot" and was invited to the free throw line. Shelby, looking slightly perplexed, was convinced that she should be rebounding and not shooting. Receiving assurance from her teammates Shelby stood at the top of the free throw line and sank both baskets. Way to go Shelby! The pace of the game picked up in the 4th quarter with Storm scoring 8 points and Wolverines picking up 5. Britney was our top game scorer with (6) points, followed by Rachell (4), Jessalyn (3), Adrianna (2), Mallory (2), Stephanie (2), Amanda (2) and Shelby (2). Britney was on fire with (14) rebounds with Jessalyn right behind her with (10). Adrianna had (9) rebounds, Rachell (7), Jaynae (4), Amanda (4), and Mallory (1). Britney, Danica, Rachell, Jessalyn and Stephanie were successful stealing the ball from the Wolverines with a total of 8 stolen balls. Storm players had a total of 9 fouls. Final score was Storm 23, Wolverines 14.
Great job Storm players!

DOPPLER RADAR SHOWS STORM MOVING TO 11-1
The Enumclaw Storm returned to league play, Saturday January 26, 2002, for two games at Rainier Middle School in Auburn. In the process, SBC raised it's record to 4-0 in league and 11-1 overall.
In both games, the storm played solid in all aspects of the game. Most impressive was the passing and un-selfish play displayed by all.
In game one, the Storm jumped out to an early 10-0 lead within the first three minutes. SBC's solid defense continued to hold the opposition scoreless the entire first half while padding their lead to 16-0.
In the second half, it was much of the same. The storm defense held the wolverines to 6 points while the offense scored an additional 13. It was a great effort by all of the girls.
scorers for the game include: Britney-10, Mara-7, Rachell-4, Jaynae-2, Bugs-2, Shelby-2, and Jessalyn-2.
Game two was very similar to game one. The Storm came out fired up and jumped out to an early lead. The height advantage the Storm had, was simply too much for the miracle. SBC pulled down 43 rebound that resulted in Storm Points. SBC went on to win the game decisively, and pushed their record to 11-1. Scorers for the game Include: Bugs-10, Rachell-6, Britney-6, Danica-4, Mara-2, Jaynae-2, Jessalyn-2, Stephanie-2, and Mallory-2.
STORM HITS VANCOUVER AND GOES 3-1!
The caravan of Storm players arrived in Vancouver, Washington Friday afternoon, January 19, 2002. Once the players got settled in their rooms they headed to the indoor pool for some fun, water games and some ear piercing screams. Of course the screaming could have been caused by the mysterious shadow lurking outside the pool house. This scary creature, a cross between an alien and big foot, was throwing pinecones at the windows causing the screams to get even louder. Thankfully, Coach Price, entered the pool house providing his protection and calmed the players down. Interestingly enough the creature disappeared
..or is it still among us? Tune in for the next chapter of The Pine Cone Creature Attacks the Storm in Rough Waters.
After a restful night the Storm players enjoyed a gourmet breakfast of bagels, Washington apples and Corn Flakes or Wheaties or Total or whatever those flakes were. Just like an Eveready battery the Storm was recharged and ready to take on the competition.
Game 1
Storm vs Kelso
43 13
Storm took it to the hoops scoring 43 points to Kelsos 13. Leading on offense was Rachel with 11 points three of which was a dynamite three point shot. Britney was fired up right behind Rachel with 8 points. Other Storm teammates adding to the scoreboard were Mara (6), Danica (4), Adrianna, (4) Stephanie, (4), Jessalyn (2), Shelby (2) and Amanda (2). Rebound, rebound, rebound was on the mind of Mallory as she collected a team high of (8) rebounds. Teammates Adrianna and Jaynae were jumping right behind her with (7) each as well as Jessalyn with (6), Britney (6), Rachell (5), Mara (3) and Stephanie with (2). A WAY TO GO to Danica, Amanda and Shelby who were heard saying I think I can, I think I can, I think I can as they attempted to rebound amongst the taller players. Youre mighty warriors and you set a wonderful example to everyone keep on trying. Storm players had good courtside manners with a total of 6 fouls. Storm's tough defense kept Kelsos scoring to a minimum. Britney, Mara, Danica, Amanda and Rachell played extra aggressive defensive and kept Kelso frustrated with numerous steals, intercepted passes and tipped balls. Amanda re-initiated the wrong-way club and wonders, who will be the next member to join? The game ended with Danica battling for the ball in the last few seconds and putting it up for two points. Sweet victory!
Game 2
Storm vs Pro Image
29 - 50
The theme song for this game was Who Let the Dogs Out, Woof, Woof, Woof. Storm players encountered an unusual mixture of aggressive basketball and ball barking. Not knowing quite how to handle Pro Images defensive tactics Storm players got more aggressive and were called for 13 fouls. The final score doesnt adequately show the hard work Storm players had to go through to earn 29 points. Adrianna had a great game scoring (12) of the 29 total points while Rachell aggressively drove in for (8) points followed by a hard working Mara with (7) and Britney with (2). Despite Pro Images tough defense Mallory and Jaynae did a great job controlling the ball off the backboard for (8) rebounds each. Adrianna and Jessalyn were right behind their rebounding buddies and each grabbed (7) rebounds. The other dominating rebounders contributing to Storms 48 rebounds were Britney (6), Rachell (6), Mara (3) and Stephanie (3). Thanks you mighty leapers for all your hard work The game ended with Storms first loss but have no doubt we learned a few things and hope to see Pro Image again.
Game 3
Storm vs Kelso
31 10
Tough defense and aggressive rebounding were key factors in the victory over Kelso. Nine players shared in the accumulated 31 points. Hot shooters Rachell and Adrianna shared the lead each scoring (6) well earned points. Jessalyn, Mara and Mallory contributed (4) points each and Danica, Amanda and Stephanie refused to leave the court without putting their (2) points each on the board. Once again Mallory showed her dominance under the basket with a team high (10) rebounds. Not to be outdone teammates Britney, Rachell and Jaynae did their share of controlling the backboard with (7) rebounds each and kept Kelso from the ball. Smooth moving Jessalyn pulled down (5) rebounds, quick handed Adrianna took (4), hustling Mara grabbed (2) and mighty warriors Danica and Shelby each got (1). Get out of my house Stephanie also did a great job defensively in shutting down Kelso under the basket. Mara was relentless in her defense and kept Kelso players empty handed. Britney, Mara, Danica, Amanda and Shelby led the in-your face defense and stayed all over Kelso players. Rachell dazzled the opponents with her ball handling and ability to drive into the crowd. Last but not least Bob Condon contributed his expertise as a professional timekeeper. He did a fine job with just a couple of minor time delays while cheering on Shelby. Although this game was plagued with quite a few turnovers as well as double dribbling and traveling calls Storm came out on top with a big margin. Way to go girls!
Game 4
Storm vs Woodland Lil Beavs
27 22
This low scoring game had its own background music and aerobics instructor Okay girls tuck those tummies and trim those thighs. Just kidding. Despite the loud music four storm players scored 24 of the 27-point victory. Britney, Rachell, Adrianna and Mara did a great job controlling the ball and driving to the basket. Each made 6 points. Helping clear the way for the dribbling four were our tough and ready defenders. Rebounding machine Jaynae pulled down (7) rebounds followed by Rachell with (5), Britney (5), Jessalyn (3), Adrianna (4), Mara (2) and Shelby (1). Rachell, Britney, Mara, Amanda and Danica intercepted and stole the ball numerous times giving Storm the advantage. Mallory and Stephanie kept their house in order and limited guests (Woodland players) from staying too long. Amanda had a butt-bumping contest with a Woodland player (of the same size) as she was attempting to block out of course Amanda won. Shelby did a good job sprinting down the court and moving back and forth positioning herself for the open shot worth a whopping $20. The game ended with a Storm victory and a happy group of girls!

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
 | | | 2001 EVERETT MALL HOOP CLASSIC CHAMPIONS! |
| |
The Storm U11 Girls basketball team, captured the championship in the Everett Mall Hoop Classic December 8th and 9th, at Jackson High School in Mill Creek.
In game 1, SBC beat U11 Eastside Elite 44 - 34 at Paine Field gym. Mara Koplitz led all scorers with 22 points. The girls passed the ball extremely well and Jaynae Sayler was a rebounding machine.
Game two was a battle. The storm played the Kirkland Force, who jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. SBC came storming back though, with timely offensive rebounding that resulted into 4 points. Britney Price was then fouled twice and made three out of four free throws to help jump start things. Danica was a spark also, creating several turnovers that resulted in SBC points. Down the stretch Adrianna Schipper nailed a HUGE three pointer to help create a little cushion for the storm. Then it was down to defense, and the girls came through.
Game 3 was also a nail biter. The storm, down by one with 6 seconds in the game, benefited from an Adrianna("Bugs") Schipper steal. Bugs then took the ball three quarters of the way down the court and hit a layin with two seconds left on the clock, which gave the Storm a 25-24 win over the Kirkland Force and a berth in the tournament championship.
Game 4 was just as exciting as the last two. Down by five early and facing a vicious Lake Stevens defense, SBC fought hard to take a 16-15 halftime lead. Rachelle Sims had a huge game, scoring 14 points and causing several opposition turnovers. Britney Price, Jessalyn Clark, Mallory Paschich and Janae Sayler had a number of rebounds that resulted in SBC points. Shelby Condon caused the other team a lot of grief with her agressive defense and hard work. Shelby was heard saying after the game, "I have never sweated so much in my life"! I have never met a champion that didn't sweat. GREAT JOB TO ALL OF YOU!!!! THANKS BARRY!!!

Britney Price and Adrianna Schipper each scored a basket in the first half as well. In the Second half Jaynae Sayler got hot, scoring four points off of key rebounds. HEATHER HITCH
Heather played for us for 2 1/2 years and mostly played the forward (4) position. Without question, her most memorable moment, (and one I will never forget) was when she hit two foul shots with little or no time left on the clock to send us on to the championship game in the Edmonds tournament.
