The SAYS 8U All-Stars closed out the 2009 All-Star season Sunday afternoon with a win, against the Deer Park Extreme, which resulted in their fifth championship. The game went into an Internantional Tie Breaker after the 6th inning with a score of 6-6. Deer Park Extreme scored 1 run in the top of the inning to put the pressure on the All-Stars. In the bottom of the inning, with runnners on 1st and 3rd, Kayla Guerrero brought in the tying run with a double and put the go-ahead run on third base with no outs. With the Extreme's infield drawn in, to make a play at home, Dalilah Bravo, batting from theleft side of the plate, delivered a hit that brought in Jamie Burton for the winning run.
For the summer, the girls entered seven tournaments. Six of the tournaments were All-Star Only tournaments of which the girls won 5 championships and 1 second place finish. Without a doubt, the girls are the best 'true' All-Star team in the area, playing teams from Willis down to Bay City and from Austin across to Orange.
